It's not about price, it's about better visuals and input responsiveness.
Not wasting money on inferior experiences is good too.

component capable CRT - $0 off facebook marketplace
playstation 2 I bought in 2006 - probably $200 or something, 14 years ago
pirating every single PS1/2 game I want - $0
emu-zoomer cope trying to tell me I'm somehow getting an inferior experience? - priceless

I don't remember the original ps2 being capable of internal 2160p. Among other easy to pry cracks in your under-thought mongoloid attempt at discussion.

Why do emufags always get so upset at people for not being emufags themselves?

>blowing out the render resolution of old games is something that is objectively better looking and everyone agrees on this

why would I want to play playstation games at 4K? this is /vr/, retro games. A board for people who enjoy older video games, ostensibly. I like them to look how they looked when they came out, IE, pretty great if it was a well designed game via a decent video connector.

I can run GSM into my OSSC and get ps2 games running at 960p on my 4k set. And guess what? It looks like shit. As it would in PCSX2 with a bunch of AA applied, forced widescreen etc, it all looks like hacked together "HD Remaster" soulless shit. Thanks for your asinine contribution though.

That's gotta be the most retarded thing I've seen on this site in months. Not equivalent at all.

Maybe a more apt comparison would be playing an instrument IRL and recording that vs. making the same sound on a computer. You know, you can minutely adjust how it sounds, increase levels at will, add effects, etc. Not saying it's changed into an apt comparison but there's probably something in there if you think hard enough about it.

Videogames involve the passive consumption of media, not active creation. The equivalent would be saying "why go to a concert when you could just listen to a recording?" And in many cases that's reasonable, because it's more convenient, easier, and you get a purer experience of the media itself without the baggage of a live show interfering, the same way emulation can cut away jank and increase performance and load times.

Going to a movie theater versus watching it at home?

>>6197491
Yeah, that fits. Pause/rewind, subtitles, video settings vs bigger screen, louder sound in an environment which is less comfortable and allows less control. Same basic premise.

Yeah, fits perfectly since experiencing a movie on the big screen is always better

Rendering old console games at higher resolutions almost always results in an incoherent abomination. Sorry, you may be retarded
