No idea. I make mods when I get bored and want to play something that doesn't exist or want to challenge myself. I've been overplayed on Doom for a few years now honestly. I had an idea years ago where enemies would gain XP and learn as you played, allowing meta-progression that could be carried across mapsets and wasn't deterministic every time, but it failed in the design phase where I realized it just wouldn't be fun. I also had an idea where the mod was like Champions except the "champion" enemies had these spirits attached to them and you could steal them to get the extra powers the enemies had but once again it turned out to not be that fun in practice.

Doom 2s maps are good except the city maps.
Quake's original campaign is a real mixed bag probably due to not wanting to stress out hardware at the time.

-Will pursue a target until healt below 50%, then will flee

Dilophosaurus:
-Will try to avoid melee (still can) prefering to be within spitting distance
-Will flee when taken enough damage

Adolescent Raptor:
-same as Compy

Adult Raptor
-will not flee
-will go into a sprint if target is too far away
-can leap
-Can do dodge maneuvers if it gets hit

-Roars and death screams can alert other monsters (within a certain range)

-Anything that is considered an animal has an instinctual fear of fire.

You can really tell they stopped giving a shit.
There's a lot of mean traps early on but they're all easy to tackle if you've mastered how to read the battlefield and know how to get out of cluttered situations, bait enemies, use infighting to your advantage, etc.
But this shit is just unapolagetically cheap as fuck and stupid now. Just piling shit on top of shit and then dropping the ceiling on the player and going "damn, bet you didn't expect that one".
I'd rather play three more variations on fucking Hunted than go through some of these final maps again.

'Limit-removing' refers to a wad that uses the original engine's capabilities with its linedef and sector actions. The difference is that the levels don't abide to the original engine's limitations such as visplane limits (which when breached, caused crashes) and drawseg limits (caused HOMs when there were too many lines onscreen at once), and many more.

'Boom-compatible' is a wad that was made with TeamTNT's 'Boom' format (something that at the time was exclusive for their Boom sourceport), released in 1997. It's still very advanced and is probably the most used format until this day.

Boom, just like 'limit-removing', removes the original engine's limitations. Boom adds new actions, such as deep water sectors, silent teleporters, generalized actions, screen color swapping, etc.

The way they did it in doom (and I doubt it changed much, if it all, for quake), was they only recorded your movements and the game took care of the rest.

Doom is deterministic, meaning if you did the exact same inputs every single time (like a demo does), the game would play out exactly the same. That's because enemy movements, behaviour, damage numbers (both given and taken) pull from the same table of randomly ordered numbers. This table is hard coded into the game and doesn't change. Every time you start a new level the game starts taking values from the beginning of the table, which is how things remain consistent.

Pickups work because all a demo does is change the source of inputs from the mouse and keyboard to the demo file. Gameplay logic is not affected.

Someone told me the GMOTA dev lurks here: I'm not fond of the new guy. Waiting for the reload, or waiting for the charge when I can just be Doomslayer or the other guy is not engaging. Zoom being heal or ammo, and not aggressive when Doomslayer's zoom is throwing a sword that heals, or punches, is infinitely more satisfying. Absolutely. The bare fist isn't the greatest, but Berserk, aside from healing you up to 100%, will let you punch with the force of a rocket, which changes it all.
Shotgun baldies and chaingunners isn't the best target (but you if you can catch by a corner it can work), but for pinkies and lost souls it can work pretty great.
The chainsaw has utility too, you can easily stunlock pinkies with it, and actually even cacos if you find yourself at the right spots. If you can find a good chokepoint you can take an entire swarm of pinkies with just your chainsaw, and likely take little if any damage.

Looking at ZDoom based ports, the collision code is better and it actually makes melee far easier to use, mainly because monsters with bigger hitboxes like the fatso, cyber, and spiders, are difficult to connect hits with in vanilla, but now works reliably.

hitscanners in blood & duke function basically the same way. they aim at a spot and shoot at it. unlike in doom where hitscanners hit you as long as you're in their FOV so there's no possible way to avoid damage. the difference is that blood cultists have very fast reaction time and are often placed in corner ambushes. but if you're far away they actually have a hard time hitting you, like in duke.

Yeah, I'm really into Colourful Hell right now. It just makes the game more interesting when the next room might contain a supercharged version of a regular enemy. The first time I saw an orange Revenant just merrily waltz through the wall towards me I pretty much shat myself.
I find its best to play with the slightly more powerful weapon mods with it though, I'm playing through Momento Mori using Combined Arms and it's so much fun. Turns out Nashgore's coloured blood addon also makes the different monster levels bleed their colour too, which is a neat touch.
