Virtual Pro Wrestling 2, has the full customization of binding any move to any grapple, running grapples, combination grapples, combination strikes, etc. as a perfect mix between 2000 and No Mercy.

I own most of the 5th Generation Era wrestling games. I will post a pic of it when I get a chance, but my favorite out of all of them is WWF No Mercy.

I have yet to own Smackdown 1 & 2, WCW Nitro, WCW Thunder, ECW Hardcore Revolution, and ECW Anarchy Rulz.

Are the Acclaim N64/PS1 wrestling games any good? Or they're heavily outshined by AKI's games?

>> No.6169414

>>6169405
They were good, but AKI's games were way better, especially WWF No Mercy. I only bought multiple versions of the Acclaim WWF games mainly because I am a huge D-Generation X fan and wanted every video game appearance they made. Plus the Attitude Era is my favorite era of wrestling.

WWF Attitude because it has more wrestlers, more features and the best Create-A-Wrestler for it's time.

>> No.6169503

NO Mercy had the potential to be my favorite 64 game but I could never figure out the controls. They just felt too random. I still mained Kane in multiplayer.

>> No.6169553

>>6169405
they're great if you want to just make goofy create-a-wrestlers and have fun

>> No.6169710

>>6169503
The controls are actually a lot simpler, if you practiced a little more. I did. I can pull off moves with no problem whatsoever. It's the Acclaim WWF games that were difficult to control.

A handful are, but none work more than one or two dates a year. Most talent in the AKI games are retired.

rumble roses and the smackdown/smackdown vs raw games. and while not retro i consider all stars to be the last good WWE game.

the 2K games suck.

depends on which version of cena & taker we're talking about.

>> No.6172094

>>6170503
because they still draw a house it's something that modern wrestlers currently struggle with doing.

WWE's current top guys & main eventers would've never made it past the midcard in the 80s or 90s while AEW assumes that you saw their guys in places like TNA, new japan or ROH.

Are No Mercy mods considered retro? There is a great looking hack called WCW Feel the Bang that runs on PJ64. I downloaded it but it requires some tweaking to get it up and running.

WM2000 beats out No Mercy for me because I like Road to WrestleMania more than Championship Mode and it doesn't lag when you play a match with 4 players.

I only remember it because I've played it a lot but it's just generic cheesy Japanese-game-rock.

WWE games N64 era and later

ELDER GOD TIER

Here Comes the Pain

GOD TIER

WWF No Mercy

GREAT TIER

WCW/nWo Revenge, WWF WrestleMania 2000, SmackDown vs. Raw 2006/2007 (GM Mode helps a lot IMO)

PRETTY GOOD TIER

WCW vs. nWo World Tour, Shut Your Mouth

GOOD TIER

SvR, WWE '13, WrestleMania XIX

OKAY TIER

SmackDown! 2, Just Bring It, SvR'10, WrestleMania X8

TRASH TIER

Acclaim shit, WCW vs. The World

Never played the Xbox games, half the GC games, and most SvRs and 2K after 2007 aren't even worth talking about, haven't tried All-Stars yet

If you ask me why HCTP deserves to be above No Mercy it's because 1. HCTP has the best Season Mode of any wrestling game ever made and 2. a lot more match types, CAW options, more to play around with in general outweighs the lesser gameplay IMO
