It was a struggle as a little kid and my runs usually ended there. It's hardly the toughest part of the game now though, you just need to move carefully.

The only annoying thing about this is that you just barely have enough time to do it if you don't lose any turtles, because the timer resets if you do. But when it doesn't, even speed runners get to the last bomb with only 12 seconds on the clock.

12 seconds is plenty of time though. I've never speedran the game or anything but I've made it through plenty of times without losing turtles. It's not a complicated route and there's very little that will slow you down for more than a second or two. Even if you aren't rushing through it you should be able to make it through pretty consistently with at least 8 seconds or so left.

I'm not ashamed to admit that the only way I've beaten this game is through save scumming.
If we'd have managed to actually get to the infamous hallway of retardation at least once we'd have destroyed that cart so hard.....
I know we made it to the technodrome at least a few times though..... So that's something.

This isn't an issue because the maze is pretty short. You won't beat it the first try but then again you're not supposed to beat games the first try, at least not old games. As a kid, I was able to figure out where to go and what to do, and my friends and I could all beat it easily every single time after that without losing a turtle (which you can get back in the next level even if you suck, but you shouldn't suck that hard at games). Hell, I beat it before back in the day without taking a single fucking hit. Shit is easy. Don't cry.
