How is this company still alive despite not making a new game for a long time, let alone a great one? Their last great game was Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury for Xbox360.

>> No.6132269

Probably a front for organized crime like most Japanese game studios and publishers.

Probably a shell company like Gainax is these days. Just need someone like Yaiman to come out and say "THEY SWINDLED ME OUT OF 100 MILLION DOLLARS" and we'll be set.

At least Gainax keeps making new stuff (even if they're boring ones not even otaku watch) and they keep milking EVA with merchandise, dvd/bluray and such.

i think ikaruga just got rereleased again

Because Treasure never had more than like 30 employees at their peak and now less than a dozen. That number of people can live off royalties of re-releases indefinitely.

>still no Missile Fury, Radiant Silvergun and Guardian Heroes PC ports
Why do they hate us?

Supposedly it's just one person at this point. Not kidding

what are you talking?
the only company that rivals kadokawa is and will be gainax.
Kadokawa launchs a new mazinger, gainax releases a new evangelion, kadokawa released kantai collection, gainax released girls und panzer besides gainax is known as the company that can make anime episodes in 48 hours so several animes had their chapter made by gainax for example some chapters of the Pain Saga in naruto are made by Gainax (several more but those are the most notable) other anime are fairy tail, detective conan, bleach, one piece,re cutey honey, after that has several animes more like medaka box, panty & stocking with garterbelt, dantarian, and much more besides being involved in games and software
Treasure well the last game they released was Gaist Crusher god for 3ds problem is they have 16 employees and development is middleware besides develoment isn't easy some games take years to complete for example dragon quest XI was to be released in 2006 yet got delayed some years before was released.

Assuming he still has the desire to do it, what would it take for NAMI to convince what's left of Treasure to let him have the rights for Alien Soldier, so he can finally finish it the way he originally wanted to?

Right. I read awhile ago it’s just a secretary answering phones. Which I’m sure are ringing off the hook.

Do they even have employees? Someone on here said the mailing address for the company is just a PO Box and the Number for the company is just maezawas cell phone. Any way to confirm this?

I know, but I also know that they probably won't go back to finish it neither. Sigh..

Shmups are beyond niche at this point, even RTS get remasters and the occasional new AA game. I'm pretty sure the company just exists to collect money from sales of their existing titles and maybe sell off the ip one day.

Doesn't Hideaki Anno's company Khara own the Evangelion IP and not Gainax anymore? I could be wrong.
>>6132265
There needs to be a definitive Bangai-O collection including the original 64 version, Dreamcast and Missile Fury, and throw in the DS game as well, although Bangai-O on DS might be worth playing on original hardware because you can create new levels and easily share with people without the need of Wi-Fi on your DS.

Meanwhile Mischief Makers' in copyright limbo with Square Enix (and probably even Nintendo).

No clue.

And still Rakugaki Showtime was released at Japanese PSN despite being a SquareEnix's IP. Weird.

But yeah, it's unfair that MM never got released at Virtual Console. At least the original cartridge is cheap. Also kudos to Nintendo for localizing this gem.

One thing I didn't knew about Treasure until recently (when I read related article at RetroGamer) was that for most of their games they outsourced them in other development companies or they hired freelancers. As about Sin&Punishment, it was co-developed with Nintendo.

>>6133601
First of all, it was an HD port and not a remake since it was the same exactly game but with HD filter and some improvements. Secondly, it was published by Sega and not by Microsoft since it's Sega's IP. And finally, blame Sega for releasing it only at XBLA while they could also release it at PSN and Steam for more sales. And they didn't even bothered to market the HD port (I only found it by luck thanks to gaming news sites).

Sega didn't even gave a shit for Advance Guardian Heroes since it was Ubisoft that published it outside Japan.

>>6133603
Never heard about it but I remember them teasing their plans for a new shmup at 3DS or PS4. But guess what: nothing happened.

>> No.6133824

G.Rev is another one, I think they did work for Treasure as well or something like that.

>> No.6133853

>>6133563
Yet that re-release happened like what? In the early 2010s?
And with the current mentality Square Enix has these days i don't think it'd be as easy to negotiate with them (They're still stingy with what to add in Smash, let alone re-releasing a propety they own, but that they never created which is very obscure and unpopular compared to their other IPs), we're just lucky with how Square Enix was more open with their IPs back then and the way PSN works with digital PS1 titles (shared between PS3, PSP, and PS Vita all from a single purchase, and who knows if the PS1 library will be the same in the PS5's PSN or if they start all over like Nintendo does)

>> No.6133870

This guy gets it. These companies exist for no reason other than to give a few people steady lifetime income with the occasional project so they don't get too bored.

>that for most of their games they outsourced them in other development companies or they hired freelancers.
I believe they only did that for specific parts of the games as they probably didn't have enough people to do everything in house. This is extremely common in the anime industry where a bunch of stuff is just handed to random freelancer as most studios don't really have a large full time staff, not so sure how common it was in the game industry though.
