You can get an android phone emulator going. It took a sec and was janky, but now I have all the controls mapped to an xbox 1 controller and its not too bad at all. Still dont understand why we dont have proper pc ports.

Android emulators for PC exist. They're not a perfect solution by any stretch of the imagination, but they're close enough for something like this, in my opinion.

Besides, Input lag is fuckin' nothing compared to trying to play a platformer with simulated buttons on a touch screen.

Bluestacks performs good enough for me.
Just don't try to use the built-in controller interface, it misses inputs sometimes. Use antimicro and map the jump button to the 1 key.

M2 is still making emulated ports for consoles. Besides a few hardcore sega fans, no one's going to buy a genesis collection without Sonic. And no one's going to buy those if a better version of Sonic is available.
