Just stated a new file in Super Metroid, and fell in love immediately. Is Metroid II any good?

I tried Metroid II long ago on the brick, couldn't get into it. Later I tried in an emulator (early one, no GBC palettes). Still couldn't.

But I am playing through it now, using www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php?topic=15989.0 and it is pretty damn fun. Just got the high jump, wave beam, and spring ball in the span of a few minutes (they probably should have spread those out more).

It is pretty good with color. And I am surprised how much closer to Super Metroid it is than to Metroid.

Also, Metroid II is about as underrated as Zelda II. It's an above average game, but surpassed by the third installment in every possible way. It is a better game than the first though.

It's not bulky enough really. I personally think other than that it's fine. A lot of people claim it looks more like it's made out of flimsy plastic than thick metal, but I think that's more Other M's lighting than the actual game model. The figma looks pretty damn solid.
That said, yeah, Prime and Smash Bros. had much better 3D models for Samus than Other M did.

There was a Metroid II remake that modernized it a bit (mostly by stealing assets from the GBA games, but nevermind that) added a map and stuff. It's a bit sloppy, but I found it to be more playable than the original, which I found too clunky and couldn't navigate without a map (I started with Super so I'm a bit spoiled I guess). It was called Another Metroid 2 Remake, I think.

Fuck. Okay.
From the Brinstar-Norfar elevator (this time on the Brinstar side) keep going left until you get to the really long shaft with the Rippers (floating turtle looking things that go back and forth). Use the Ice Beam to get up, and keep going up the shaft, all the way to the top. Go right until you get to another shaft. Instead of going up, shoot the center of the floor (there's a bit of the floor that looks obvious about it. you might have to bomb it instead.) and drop down. Follow the only way to go to get Power Bombs. If you go back up the shaft, there's a save point on the right, and on the left is a room with more Power Bombs hidden in it (Go to the back of the room and drop a Power Bomb, then purposefully land in the only plant that doesn't have one of those pincer grabber motherfuckers in it).

If you ask me how to get the Ice Beam, I will slap you.

Take the elevator into Norfair, and take the first door on the left. Speed Boost past the gates, then keep going left. Wall jumping isn't that hard if you have any sort of reflexes or motor control. If you don't have either of those, you're playing the wrong game.
