Ehhh, not really. I see what they were going for with ambition and scale, but it kind of backfires when you're dragging units across a map with nothing going on between castles. And once you figure out how the bloodlines work, the challenge is toast.

Still, this is the game that established FE standards like the color-coded range grid and the weapon triangle, so it has its place.

I think that would be Mystery of the Emblem. I definitely wouldn't call it the best but I think it's FE at it's purest. It doesn't have many of the bells and whistles of the later games but it doesn't really need them to begin with.

Gameplay and story integration. The massive maps really make it feel more like a full scale war, and the fact that you can match them together as shown in >>6117641 to make the game's continent is even cooler.
