Are there other retro games like Alien Soldier and Contra Hard Corps where the entire gameplay is just boss battle after boss battle?

>> No.6090429

Einhander, Soul Blade, Armored Core Master of Arena, Bloody Roar, House of the Dead, Metal Slug, Castlevania Bloodlines, Punch Out!, Judgement Silversword

There really aren't that many games that are JUST boss fights though, not even the ones you gave as example

>> No.6090505

>>6090429
Alien Soldier is about as close to the idea as it gets. The between-boss areas offer almost no resistance and really just exist as rest points to farm HP and weapon ammo before the next match. Even Hard Corps has the mooks at least try to kill you, doubly so in the US version with the series' traditional one-hit deaths.

>>6090505
nah you're full of shit, there's some pretty good level design in the sewers and snow area, the airport with the partially obscured view, and even the first area with it's mooks on platforms when you're trying to keep health maxed, or the pitch black zone that needs to be lit up by firing.

Capcom made a game which is pretty much all boss fights but is not retro.

There is a part in game where u go to a farming spot to collect points to exchange for boss level attempts, which u go through by a hub world, you can farm enough points to where you dont even have to farm again and just go boss battling over and over.

Not retro but you definitely need to play Astro Boy Omega Factor if you like boss rush style and Alien Soldier.

This free indie game which is really good and a tiny download consists of never ending boss battles which get harder and harder.

You can download it from here.

it's good but ends up not being as fun as something with intentionally designed enemies like Chorensha

Kenta Cho has a bunch of games that are like that one which I usually prefer but they're all great games.

Well, if we're going to play THAT game, I'll have to ask your playthrough of Astro Boy Omega Factor first. And since it was claimed that it was "extremely" easy, I'll also ask for a no-death run.

I already did. Hear me, "hardcore" kid? Go live stream astro boy omega factor and show us what you got.

All I claimed was that neither jarpigs nor the /vg/ kids play real arcade games, is all. I'm not defending the JRPG fans.

Anyway, the challenge has been set: if you want to maintain your honor, livestream a no-death run of astro boy. This goes for all of the /vg/ troupe.

STG Archive has plenty of replays like the Guwange one, other posters have their own yt channels. You could simply look before making assumptions, lad. Also cool it with the desperate challenge attempts

And how do we know the shitposters ITT right now are the same people on these archives? How do we even know these archives are legit scores? Do you have any way to validate those? Are they even played on legit boards?

>> No.6095619

>>6095615
I don't know nor care if the shitposters are the same people, I do know for a fact they're ex-/vg/ posters though which is what's being talked about. If you want to talk about the shitposters specifically, talk about them. Also do you actually care about finding out why they're valid or are you using it as your own shitposting fuel?

/vr/ has got to be the only game related board or even place on the internet that thinks checking vids of high level players is anything but normal. It's actually remarkable, there's probably some correlation between that and the high amount of non-players.
