The combat really didn't do it for me and I'd be glad to hear why other people liked it. All the guns were largely interchangeable, the game was too slow to introduce new enemy types, and most enemies were samey, not to mention the modern obsession with hyperactivity equals hardcore so there were projectiles flying in every direction and imps and hell knights jumping all over the arena like frogs; all that did was make actively dodging enemy attacks an exercise in futility so you just constantly looped around the arena shooting at things as you came across them.

Playing on high difficulty settings and learning to dominate the arenas is rewarding but at times very hard. In your haste to quickly dispatch a large enemy, something else out in the open may get a quick potshot at you if you're not constantly moving and using cover strategically. Staying still for too long means you're dead, scampering with no sense of direction gets you killed too. The higher tier weapons become a lot more vital to your survival and others like the HAR help you pick at enemies from a distance as can be absolutely necessary for imps and other low tier nuisances. You'll want to use gauss boosts often and think ahead of which runes to equip to give yourself the advantage over the enemy according to your play style.

That's precisely what I was doing. I played on UV, found it a bit too easy, so went back and finished it on nightmare and eventually UN.

And not really, no. A number of arenas in late game don't feature as much cover and you are still required to think about which enemy to tackle first, look out for stray imp fireballs and the pinkies. If you play sitting duck or avoid the main fight by waning off to the sides of the arena that's on you. Any game can be played to the most minimal of efforts without really risking anything in the process, but then what's the point?

It's a bit of a mess, I did like how one of the mods introduced a simple class system where different classes got different starting gear, but almost everything else was an absolute clusterfuck.
For some reason people like pairing a mod with addons where the map gets filled with monsters that can rapid fire super projectiles that cause one hit deaths and have a massive splash radius, and then play it on survival with either 1 or 2 lives per player

That's pretty much the reason why I dislike Complex Doom with all those addons.
It's more luck over skills.
You either go up against an almost invincible being who can shoot pretty much undodgeable projectiles or you become a God who can go through anyone with little to no effort.
Doesn't help the insane amount of weapons either.

Take a mod that makes the game harder is perfectly fine but this is pretty much throwing things and see what sticks.

Well that's because reelism actually has a nonzero, nonnegative "lowest level of difficulty". The best possible modifiers given to the player still technically require them to have some degree of skill. For Complex Doom + Addons the lowest level of difficulty that can be generated is pretty much below zero. You get your meme armor, meme weapon, and cleave through any non-legendaries like chad cleaves through your oneitis. The only slight roadblocks are said legendaries, but if you're not a tard and you don't get jumped you can cheese them easy.

I fixed this by running it trough zdl (gzdoom) without the skulltag actors and data. problem is I dont find ammo drops thats why i gave myself infinite ammo (since its a meelee char it fits anyway) My loadorder is like follows:

Well Mechwarrior and Battletech is venerable, great setting. Great games, like the legendary Mech2.
Shame Mercenaries 5 is a bit amateurish.
The Mech general in VG is very populated, all the oldfags that will probably see mech games disappear in their lifetime still gather there.

Heavy Gear 1 and 2 are also good. As are the ones suggested.
Dont forget Front Mission and Ring of Red for some turn based stuff. Can be a bit boring but are very relaxing games.

God here we go, another one of these. Modding is out of everyone's league until they put in the required effort to learn it. Find something that already does what you want, crack it open, and pull it apart until you understand it. The ZDoom wiki has a good reference for ACS and DECORATE, not so much for ZScript but it's better than nothing. Unzipping the gzdoom.pk3 will allow you to search for functions by name tosee how they're used. Blocking damage on right click + hold shouldn't be overly complex, but if you look for the implementations that involve swatting projectiles it's a bit harder. You can't just solve these things in one google search so don't even try. Take a few hours to actually learn what you're trying to do.

That Cyberdemon is just a gimmick, you avoid him until you can telefrag after the blue key. You can also try a lesser difficulty, i know its a mancubus on others so you can try that. Alright, I've been reading up some more on how to run an Unreal99 server, hopefully I'm not as stupid as I was the last time I tried, hopefully.

While ZDoom definitely has always made a lot of questionable changes, I've generally had the impression that Randi just didn't know any better in the early days before Graf came along.

But I will admit. I have hardly used GZDoom anymore. Got bored of gameplay mods. Good maps for it are far and few between compared to vanilla/boom maps, and can often feel gimmicky to me. Some of the good stuff from the old days don't even work correctly anymore. Just don't really have an urge to use it. Been mainly using Crispy Doom and Eternity nowadays.

It could use some polishing. All the characters have Taradino's voice lines, and if you're playing Doug or one of the girls, you get two dual pistol weapons, one with Taradino's hands and the one with the correct hands for your character, and the alternate hand versions fire faster. Gibbing is too exaggerated, it ends up devaluing ludicrous gibs because you can barely even tell the difference. I understand it wasn't so feasible at the time, but I'd also like to see the original weapon swapping system. Life points were handled better in the demo, I don't know why they changed it from a soulsphere to god mode.

It's still a really impressive project, I'd kill to see similar treatment of other old FPS stuck on jank-ass engines with no decent source ports. In Pursuit of Greed is such a cool concept that's totally fucked over by being technically awful.

I dont know the details of the situation, maybe theyre helping publish it, but nobody involved in developing ROTT 2013 is developing Wrath. Wrath is made by a guy named Killpixel with collaboration from various Quake modders/mappers.
Also, one of the main guys (Simon) behind Amid Evil made Return Of The Triad and worked on ROTT 2013.

Interesting shape. Maybe apply a slightly tarnished metallic texture to it. Also lower the flame a little, and add something in the top bowl which could be what's actually burning.
