Jump Scares: The Video Game

>> No.6084184

I recently found my t shirt with that logo that I was sure my ex stole from me. Sorry Angie.

>> No.6084464

ah....it never pretended to be anything other than what it was.

>> No.6084486

I think it’s a bit more than that on the horror front. The survival aspects are still there and there’s a lot of tension from just trying to safely navigate and manage supplies between puzzle rooms with the hallways filled with all kinds of nasties. I’m more partial to RE1 though.

>> No.6084590

It had only the logo? Can we have a pic?

They were well executed and not particularly scaring, more like "OH SHIT TIME TO FIGHT"-moments. I'm quite a pussy and played this as a 12-year old and the only jolt I got was in the interrogation room.

when that thing runs outside the window and appears on the ceiling in the next room
ah shit

RE2 was the reason I jumped from Nintendo to PlayStation in 1998. Thanks Capcom.

>> No.6085126

Stayed up all night with my bud and skipped school the next day to finish it. Was not dissapointed.

what about after the placing cog wheel? i do think the interrogation room was the worst though
what other notable jump scares are there? those are the only two that immediately come to mind for me

>> No.6085650

The wooden walkway and the room with the mirror got me.

>> No.6085776

>>6084153
I recently played it, the only real jump scare was the licker smashing through the one-way mirror.

>>6085037
Piece of trivia I love pointing out. When you go into the hallway, there's a decapitated body and a smashed window. The licker broke through the window, killed the man, and ran off with his head in the seconds it took you to open the door.

Nothing in the game bothered me except the two instances of Mr. X bursting through the wall. That shit actually scared the living hell out of me.

And God damn has the remake made quickly getting screenshots from the original a pain in the ass

Protip, look for a longplay of a game, the part where it happens, and screenshot that. You can usually get it in good quality too.

wow, cool af man. I don't like very much the front part with nothing more than the capcom logo. The fun part is on the back... Anyway, do you wear it normally?

Indeed I recently saw a t-shirt with Jill and Chris from the first RE in a black background on eBay. Unfortunately is so damn expensive.

Cool poster too.

RE1 is actually hard unlike 2. I've beaten 2 sooo many times, including Nightmare difficulty. I have yet to finish a playthrough of RE1 or Remake because the layout of the mansion. I find myself unable to justify continuation after my consumption of resources by certain points in each game. 3 is actually pretty hard as well.

It has 1 fucking jumpscare in the entire game. What on earth are you talking about?

Mr X jumping through the 1-way mirror

That was a licker that did that, although the tyrant did break through a wall into a hallway

>> No.6089070

I like the game, but it's definitely over hyped , generally by hipsters who think that gaming started with Sony.

It's a bit like FFVII for the Horror genre but if FFVII was actually quite good.

>> No.6090082

You're probably the only person I've come across who harbors this opinion. 2 showers you in ammo with ammo, and lays its items out in a way that makes the game fairly linear, even in the police station. It also gives you 8 item slots for both characters, wherein the first Chris only has 6.

>> No.6090095

>>6087592
What? RE1 is dead simple.

>> No.6090101

And the first one didn't have them? Just at the beginning with the "dead" zombie on the floor in the statue room and the dog jumping through window in the hallway?

How? It's the only one that doesn't have auto aim. And 2 didn't even have a hard mode - only easy and normal

The arms suddenly coming out of the boarded windows got me the first time, the licker skittering past the window was also a WTF moment, MrX coming at Claire on the balcony as well as the crocodile in the sewer

>> No.6092906

i shouldnt waste my time on the remake right? just play it on my DC, right (i just burned it)? or is the remake kinda fun? i know this is /vr/ but I am curious

>> No.6093023

>i shouldnt waste my time on the remake right?
The Remake is a completely different game. It's a very good one too, but the two games are not connected in any meaningful way gameplay-wise.

>> No.6093028

>>6092906
They're different games. You should definitely play the original first then if you enjoy it, the remake.
