Pretty much everything you said is wrong. Magic use had a much better place in FF8 than other games imo because only certain kinds of magic were strong at certain times, on the other hand in a game like 7 you get away with spamming the same skills over and over like Aqualung 95% of the time, which you get super early, can have on every chara, and totally trivializes the game too. No FF game has difficult combat, hate to break it to you. In 8 though you basically need Triple to make Magic really strong, but it's not like you a GF that gives you free Triple on every chara...right?

Also I really enjoyed manipulating Rinoa's magic pool so she only uses Meteor with max stats in her 2nd limit break. I would set her up to auto hasted and she'd basically kill any boss by herself without any input from me after using Angel Wing. It was really satisfying having her unleash a nuclear holocaust every second while I can relax with my other character inputs, not sure why.

I'll agree with this, but mostly just because it obviously made you play the game very poorly and fuck up your experience.

Not... really. Not all your magic is going to be junctioned. Until the mid to late game when you have all the GFs you're probably only junctioned in 4 or 5 slots per character. Even if you do use a spell you junctioned it doesn't matter. Oh shock horror, I lost 75 max HP or 6% Earth Absorb because I Triple Quaked, that sure wasn't worth the 7k damage I did.

Maybe if you've been grinding and actually hit the level scaling, but just don't do that instead. There's a really easy source of Triple really early and the moment you have Diablo you can get capped on Quake which, outside of certain fights will get you through basically all the way to disc 3.
