I think most remakes are aimed at people who haven't really played the original so they don't care and the devs/company don't think it's worth the effort to make sure it all actually looks the same. I really lost interest in remakes after seeing some of my favorite games have not only some awesome graphical effects not work but also be so broken that it starts to effect the gameplay.

Second the bible is literally a bunch of books that were never meant to go together written by several different people at different times. The church put them together while keeping many books out that were written in the same time period because they didnt fit the agenda they were trying to push.

Don't be stupid it's not about something like that. Remakes themselfs are stupid thing. The money and time could be spent at actually making a new title. Also you keep hearing people saying they hope the remake would fix certain things but that never happens. All in all. Remakes are unnecesary gashgrabs. They're not bad but they really should've improved the the game instead of making an exact copy of the original game. Not only did they lock you out of trading with the Hoenn games but they explicitly prevented you from evolving Gen 1 Pokemon into any of their Gen 2 Evolutions. On top of that many trainers still have the same questionable Pokemon choices and shit movesets from Gen 1. Instead of working with the mechanics of later gens the game feels like it's trying to force Gen 1 on you. The only thing preventing it from feeling like a graphical update of Gen 1 are the Abilities and Steel/Dark type.

You know the best part of remakes? They don't replace the original in any way.

This is board dedicated to playing old shit, so everyone here should know there's a million ways to play that old shit, be it via original hardware, emulation, or something in between in the case of FPGA.

If the remake wasn't different in meaningful and new ways, fuck, man, I'd be pissed. Why wouldn't I want them to change things up a bit when revisiting and re-doing much of the assets? I like this old thing, but I enjoy the opportunity to enjoy it in a new way, which is another reason why Ron hacks are fun as they can often accommodate the same feeling by mixing things up.

That original version is still there and it ain't going anywhere.

Not him but what's your opinion on the Gospel of Thomas and similar works? Was it eventually cut because someone decided it wasn't divinely inspired? What about the inspiration when it was written? Who gets to decide if something was divinely inspired and whether it should have an official place in the bible?

Perhaps popes and high priests have more of a direct connection to God? The pope is supposedly infallible, but if that's the case then why has there been such a huge problem with sexual abuse inside the Catholic church?

It's hard to both believe in true divine inspiration when you look to the people who are supposed to be the most divinely inspired and see them not even willing to condemn rape and abuse within their own ranks.
