what was the first thing you bought on ebay? Did you make any friends?

>> No.6071875

Pokemon red with an ags 101 gameboy SP. And friends? No, is that a thing on Ebay?

>> No.6071885

not /vr/ but I bought 2 or 3 vintage Depeche Mode patches from a lad in the UK. I guess he had another one in stock I didnt see so he just included it in for free, and he left a handwritten letter thanking me for buying.

Mew pokemon card. First and only time I ever used a money order for an eBay purchase. Nobody I knew at the time had credit or debit cards. Had to have my grandma buy it for me since I was like 10.

oh as for friends, I dunno about friends but certainly favorite sellers, like retrosaikou and discheaven.

I was a kid in the mid 2000s, and I really wanted a copy of Sonic 3. Gamestop didn't have it because it was too old, and retro game stores weren't really a thing yet (none that I knew of anyway.)
Around that time, one of my older cousins came over to visit and I happened to mention my plight to him.
>"You know, you could probably still find it on ebay"
>Yeah, maybe lol. (what the fuck is an ebay)
And a few weeks later a sealed copy of Sonic 3 arrives in the mail. I didn't expect him to actually buy it. That was the nicest random thing anyone has ever done for me.

>what was the first thing you bought on ebay?
As far as video games, I can't remember, but way back in the early 2000s I think I bought a couple of Pokemon cards or something. Pic related was definitely one of them.

What does this have to do with the cost of bootlegs in China? The first thing I bought was Prague powder.
>Did you make any friends?
Of course. Who doesn't want to be friends with someone whos superpower is creating bacon.

My eBay account is actually retro and almost 20 years old now (Dec 22 1999)

only accumulated 425 feedback since then but there was only a short period of time I actually sold things with the account (back in 2005 and 6) I originally opened the account to buy animu merchandise, The first thing I remember I got was a rattling plush of a Princess Mononoke Kodama (pic related)

When I was 13, I found eBay and immediately searched for pic related. Annoyed my dad until he let me use his credit card to buy one for 70 odd bucks. Thought it was the best thing ever since we didn't get these in Australia. Got Red Alarm, Tetris, and some baseball game for it. Now it sits in a box somewhere because only one eyepiece displays anything. Magical experience.

I think one the first things I bought on ebay with my own account was in 1999 or 2000. It was this Sonic Christmas plush. If that wasn't the first thing, it would have been Mortal Kombat 2 for SNES. I'm not even sure how I made an account, I wasn't even 18 or older to create an account.

a copy of WWF Steel Cage Challenge on NES in 2003. i think it was $6 shipped.

Fairly sure it was Tech Romancer for Dreamcast, for whatever reason none of the stores around me had the game.
My ebay account was created in May 2000, so that lines up.

eBay around 2001.
