Any fans of Tail Concerto here? I love Solatorobo (it's one of my favourite games despite being so easy) but years ago (2007-2008) when I tried Tail Concerto I couldn't stand the annoying dud and the faulty controls. Should I give it another chance?

I don't know about Tail Concerto but Solatorobo is a great game that even non-furries like it. Stop being so biased because of your hate on furry fandom. Unless you're implying that all these reviewers on many sites and blogs that make positive comments about it are furries as well. Or that anyone who likes Sonic and Star Fox is a furry.

I'm not being biased. I'm telling the truth. Furries really do love these games to death almost entirely because of how it panders to them. You can't deny that man. Everything else in the game to them is just icing on the cake, because you wouldn't see them praising this game so much if it wasn't furry.

As a furfag myself I can say its definitly true.

Most furry games suck

Solotorobo was CRAP. The combat has no real depth. It takes about 5 minutes to fully master the game and than it never throws any real challenge at you except at the final and fake-final boss.
Hell your character actually has more hp than most of the bosses.

Sly series got bad after the first game, sly 1 is a neat platformer that has a moderate challenge due to your very low hp pool. Sly 2-4 were dumb downed with an inflated hp bar that made everything easy mode, check points everywehre with infinite lives, pointless minigames, empty HUBS that just waist time, and little to no collectables.

I need to check out Tail Concerto again. I only got to play this boss fight with this giant cat hot air balloon. I hate that it's called a 'furry game' just because there're anthropomorphic animals in it. Klonoa: Door To Phantomile is a great fucking game, and it is not 'furry.'

You're completely wrong about all of this. Just because something features anthropomorphic animals as characters doesn't make it furry. Furries are a very recent development among freakish shut-ins and they should not start claiming that things like the looney toons are part of their "culture."

These people are desperately seeking acceptance from normal people and hope that by labeling something as wholesome and American as bugs bunny as "furry," then normal people would be just as weird as they are for being into the "same thing."

By the way, Solatorobo isn't furry and neither is Klonoa or any other Japanese animal mascot platformer(sparkster, yoshi, Kirby, etc.).

I actually really like anthromorphic characters. Well, some of them at least. I think they're fun, and interesting to look at. It kinda annoys me when people try to write off good vidya as "furry" because it uses anthromorphic characters. Like, goddamn, what the fuck is wrong with people? Next someone is going to tell me that I'm a furry because I like old Disney movies with anthro characters in them? Where does it end?

I grew up with the game. I didn't really enjoy playing it, but I liked watching my little sister play it. It was pretty imaginative for us back then.
It's probably what turned me furry.

Excepting for the Black Cat Gang base mission and the final boss, the game had a nice difficulty curve and an even nicer Ghibli-like feeling too.

Gameplay in these games is merely alright, and the actual story is very cliche, but they somehow achieve a marvelous atmosphere and sense of adventure. Solatorobo is crammed with completely superfluous world building, and that more than anything is what kept me playing. It helps that I'm a complete sucker for airships and sky islands

Furries started out as a subset of sci-fi fans who enjoyed "furry" style species in science fiction universes. This was in the 80s or even the 70s, not sure. They used to have their own tables at sci-fi conventions and stuff; then they sort of splintered off and started generalizing their interest to include other kinds of anthropomorphic animal characters, with a shift towards favoring more cartoony styles. At some point they started calling THEMSELVES "furries," and not just the characters themselves; probably because that was when they were all starting to make furry personas of themselves and whatnot. It didn't take them long to become sexual perverts at that point.

I assume that project just got warped into Solatorobo? That'd make sense given how they go into the world under the islands. There's a bunch of concept art in the Solatorobo artbooks, particularly the third one, but it's difficult to tell whether some illustrations are concepts for Tail Concerto, its planned sequel, or Solatorobo.

I got this game as a more or less random selection at a Babbage's when I was a kid. I thought it would have something to do with music because it had "concerto" in the name.

It did not.

But nonetheless, I played through it multiple times. Never did collect all those photographs, but I really ended up liking the game, despite being entirely mistaken about it.
