Chrono Cross is one my my all time favorite games. As everyone does, I wish that they had at least another year or two to work on it. Grobyc was among my favorites. Serge/Norris (after you obtain his final gun)/Grobyc was an awesome team for me near endgame.

I loved Lynx and Harle.

Lynx has so much wrong with him, really. He's honestly a terrible character, getting away with all the shit he does while being so blatantly fucking evil, while working with characters who are not actually supposed to be evil, like Viper or fucking Kid, and then whenever you meet him he starts babbling like a loony. I'm able to follow the plot of Cross now, and yet I'm still pretty sure Lynx is just trying really, really hard to sound deep.
But one thing I always liked about him was his pure style. That outfit, and that bigass fucking scythe, and general sense of malice he has surrounding him. And it's all kindof ridiculous, to be honest.

But then he's paired up with Harle. And because of Harle it works.

Harle is Lynx's total opposite. She's silly and carefree, and occasionally babbles off pseudo-intellectualism, but she does it in a really offhanded way. She's not really that much of a villain. She was mostly just doing what she had to do and having fun along the way.
And yet she always had this slight tinge of creepiness to her, the sense that she knew more than she was letting on (and she really, really did).

I think, separately, Lynx would have been too ridiculous, and Harle would have been interesting but unimportant.

But as a duo, they just work.

I was so psyched the first time, when you get turned into Lynx, and Harle just joins up with you. They're just the best.

I really have no favorites. The game was so depressing to me the first time I played it, and most of the characters where so under used/bland that I could not give a fark about any of them.
Especially when you come to understand the events that happened after Trigger that lead upto this game: Chrono/Marle getting kicked out of the kingdom and dissapearing, Lucca dieing. (I know some of these basically become null and void after the end of the game but still...)
I just couldn't love this game or it's characters nearly as much.

I'm going with this man. I can see how someone can appreciate RD, but 9/10 the justification for it is the butt devastation of "CT" fans. I've yet to find any fellow Cross patricians who truly think RD is anything amazing, I among them, but mention this to the crowd that supports CT more and all of a sudden another magical divide. There were some great concepts for a VN of its day, and I wouldn't mind another attempt at it, but there wasn't a thing it did that CC collectively didn't improve upon. In general, RD and CC were nothing but the director having grievances over how CT was handled. Those who feel it got it down "perfect" will naturally have any qualms with continuations, "spiritual" or direct.

aye aye aye, this always proves to me why CC gets overlooked. It definitely encouraged replayability that didn't just rely on ending tracks, you could legitimately miss a good deal of the game's content if you proceeded certain ways, where it was damn near impossible in CT.

A good 95% of Chrono Cross' characters started off interesting and proceeded to never have any unique dialogue or development, because there were way too many to juggle. Even a lot of the unavoidable ones.

It's a shame too because I like a LOT of the characters, but all of them are so fucking one dimensional.
