You couldn't just get an N64 and an Everdrive at any point over the course of the last 23 years?

Didn't want to. I don't want to spend money on cartridges, I want to play video games.

Everdrives let you play any rom you put onto it and you can buy one for around $100 or so depending on the console. Considering you don't ever have to buy a game again after you get one they pay for themselves pretty quickly. Also (and probably more importantly) they can be used to play hacks and fan translations and the like.

N64 games were meant to be played at 5 to 20fps, this board is for people who like authentic game experiences

Doesn't count, delet this.

>> No.6033063

The Human Eye can only progress 24 images in a second, said with that, 25 or 30 fps should be fine and actual, this is the fps the developers intended you to play. And since the tech you played on was old they also made sure to use the CRT of your TV correctley.

Do yourself a favour, when you think you have to emulate, than emulate at least correctley. This means, scannlines with blur effect at 30 fps.

or stop being a poor fuck and buy the real hardware. Drumpftard.

Yes, because you're totally not going to notice a 60 to 30 frame dip. Fuck off.

>> No.6033547

>>6033532
I can barely notice a 30 > 15 dip if there's enough post-processing, so I can't imagine anyone can actually notice 60 > 30 since 30 is so smooth already.

Okay, hear me out. It sounds counter-intuitive yes, but in practice, increasing the internal res and then applying an NTSC filter works wonders for many if not all N64 games and respects the developer's intentions. Not only do you get the benefit of detailed polygons rendered with no aliasing, but those super low res textures like the ones on the bridge and the ground dither just as intended, whereas they'd look over pixelated and sharp without the filter.
Note the level of detail on Conker, like the zipper on his hoodie and his sneaks. That's pure developer artwork; I'm not using a texture pack or any filtering beyond three-point, just more resolution. On native N64 internal res you cannot discern that level of detail at all.

Upping the internal resolution and then applying a proper blurring pass of some type works great with 5th gen games that have joint 2D/3D graphics or just games in general that have a combination of low resolution textures and polygons. I've been meaning to make a thread on it.

This is how the developers intended us to play N64. People who play with increased render resolution seriously deserve to be hanged.
