I'm sorry, but it's the greatest game ever made.

Metroidvania is almost as shit of a genre as collectathon, maybe even worse.

>> No.6029858 [DELETED]

The 2nd castle is a bit of a letdown but if you look at it as a condensed "Boss Rush" kind of stage I find that boosts my appraisal of it. Also the majority of bosses are laughably easy, especially since there is no way to truly get stuck on anything since there's easily obtainable equipment or strategies to btfo even the "toughest" enemies

However, this does not change that it is still one of the most jawdroppingly gorgeous and impressive pieces of vidya to ever grace our often stupid and gay hobby and make it almost seem worthwhile. The sense of wonder working through the first castle and getting everything you need together to make it to the 2nd for the first time is thrilling.

tldr, I generally agree, OP

Amazing, of course. Phenomenal love letter to the series and games in general, yes. Greatest ever? There's too many shortcomings. Like >>6029858 said the second castle is mostly filler. There's too many rooms that have nothing but a $5 coin or Peanuts. Familiars aren't implemented well. Richter mode sucks. There's so many wonderful items to collect, but in and of itself there's no purpose to.

Anyway, Nintendo fans should hypotetically like SOTN; since it's basically a love letter to Super Metroid with a Castlevania cloak.

What an overblown, incoherent mess of a game. The handheld sequels are a million times better. If your opinion on video games doesn't go past the graphics and the music, then good for you, just please don't pretend you have a valid opinion.

How do you do it with Richter?
I did it with Maria on PSP by doing really insane airdash inputs and memorizing where the spikes were.
The brutal thing is that you have to do it twice.
