Playing Ultima VI for the first time. Having trouble with the map and runics, but the games is really good.

Can I fuck the gypse whore south of "The Kings Way"? I moved her all the way to a inn but there's no option to do it.

Get up to 8 party members.
The required party members:
You, Dupre, Shamino, Iolo and a certain character you meet later.
So you have 3 characters to recruit.

Sherry the rat is only required to get one of the runes.
You can dismiss her after that, she has the lowest strength and only at level 1.
If you train her, she'll get strong.
Use boomerang or sling to kill weaken enemies.
I don't recomment you to train her, it's a bit tedious, being level 1 (low hp) and low strength.

Julia and Blaine (a gypsy in Taynith's group) will get angry if you kick them out of the party. If you really want to kick them temporarily, kill them and store their corpse somewhere. Raise them later.

In my first play, I recruited 3 strong fighters: Sentri, Segallion and Gorn.
All of them have the same sprite as Dupre.
It could be confusing if you have 4 characters with same sprite.
I used direct order for all characters in battle so it's not that confusing.

Recommended characters with each of their own sprite: Jaana, Blaine and Sherry. You can use Katrina for the 4th before that certain mandatory character joins.

If you are truly perverted and in search of amusement, you can get Sherry in the party, select her in Solo Mode, and then have Sherry have sex with either Andreas or Wanda.

I hope you know how the Orb of the Moons works.
If you're in danger, you can use it to teleport back to the throne room of Lord British castle.
LB is there (unless when he's sleeping/eating) and you can ask him to heal/resurrect your party.

Easy place to level up early is the cave beneath the sewer.
Kill giants, trolls and headlesses.
Get their stuff and sell them at the stores.
Rinse and repeat.

The game is non-linear and you can do any quest you want first.
Have fun and experiment on many stuff.

Is there any penalite in doing immoral things, like stealing or getting Ariana rune without talking to her mother?

You have an overall Karma score. If your Karma is too low, a certain plot necessary interaction late in the game won't take place. Other than that, I don't think there's any direct penalty for acting badly, but it's been a long time since I played and I don't remember everything the karma system touches.

There are some free skiff you can find in dungeons.
I think one is in the sewer cave.
Just keep it on one of your strong character, Dupre is good for carrying it.

There's a hidden stat called karma.
You lose karma for stealing stuff, use pickpocket spell, kill NPCs, kill peaceful animals (like horse) unless they attack you first.
One of the wiki said that's impossible to complete the game if you have low karma.
But in my first game, where I stole a lot, I was able to purify the Avatar by meditating in each of the shrine.
That's how I got 30 in all my stats.
In later play, I don't do bad stuff so I can't confirm it the purify method works.

Are you playing via nuvie? It allows you to play with a larger viewing field and enable drag&drop and U7 style GUMPS. Plus you can use the audio and voice acting from the FM Towns version.

I trained Sherry to level 8 and gave her a halberd and magic helm/armor.
It was extremely tedious, but totally worth it in the end.

Casting animate + clone was a great way to get everyone a set of magic armor.

As you can see in my screenshot, I train Sherry as dex-based char. She's level 7 and has 27 dex. One more level and she'll get 30 dex.

Money is not a problem in this game.
I have problem carrying all those money.
I equip all characters with magic helm, magic armor and I still have almost 9k gold coins + 200 gold nuggets.
Had to resort to the carrying capacity bug to carry all those coins and nuggets.
I only use animate+clone on things that not sold in any shops like Magic Shield, Storm Cloak, Fire Wand, Lightning Wand, etc.
In my last game, I don't even use the duplication trick, because I can get the same effect from magic spells.
And I rarely use Magic Shield because most of characters are using Magic Bow or Halberd.

I'm getting old and forgetful...could you cremate characters in Ultima VI? I recall one of them you could pretty much perma kill most/all NPCs by cremating the bodies.

I never thought of trying to see if taken an enemy body (like a headless) and doing the Frankenstein trick on it.
Does it keep the original NPC's sprite or does it use whatever sprite was on the corpse?
