What would you say takes the cake for some of the best retro gaming drama?

I’d still say Chad Dion Dakis and Chris Ray putting neo-geo inserts in the shredder forcing collectors to buy their “corrected” copies takes the cake unless I’m mistaken.

Posting in online forums, 4chan included, is an energy drain and a waste of time. You should spend your limited time in this earth better playing things you like rather than fighting losers online.

>fighting losers online
If that's the only thing you can find to do then you're doing something wrong.

>> No.6027757

Destroying things to piss off collectors or make money is just as bad as the worst collectorfag you can imagine. All losers IMO

i complain about 360 emulation being shit because i want to play tenchu z when i have a 360 and tenchu z in my closet lol, fuck hardware

You just gave the perfect example of why emulation can suck though. It gives an easy way out to people that are too lazy or too poor to play the real thing, compromising the quality and accuracy of the experience along the way. I'm obviously talking about hard to emulate systems here obviously.

i'm playing hyrule warriors in cemu right now and i'm sure there's some shit emulated wrong, i'm also running it at a higher resolution and framerate than was intended, it's nice
same with jsrf on cxbxr, i could play the original game, since i have an xbox and a copy of it, and the experience is 'compromised' because the graffiti graphics are broken, still prefer it to the original though

good for you. Your only argument is still "hardware sucks because I'm too lazy to set it up". If you emulate and enjoy it, good for you, but don't project your own sluggish lifestyle onto everyone just cause you can't be bothered to spend 5 minutes setting something up.

>People on this board finding out CRTs do have a delay or "lag"
You mean the milliseconds it takes for the beam to travel? The travel time that almost every programmer had to take into account so they could have graphical data ready to be drawn to the screen when the draw cycle begins? If you ever visited the CRT general, they know this.
>People on this board finding out there aren't any games you can't emulate any more
What games couldn't be emulated before, and when? Last I checked every retro game can be emulated if you put enough effort into it, and have been emulatable since 2010. What are you talking about?
>People on this board finding out run ahead actually works
Oh, you're one of those shitposters.
>People on this board finding out about in-game machine translation
OSR translations have been a thing for years now, you really are just throwing shit at a wall to see what sticks, aren't you?
>It's been a dramatic last few years
It's been a shitty last few years full of /v/'s non-stop shitposting, mostly about the same crap you just mentioned.

Also, community drama is not FUCKING RETRO GAMES. Go back to /v/ OP, and take your fellow retards with you.

Most people don't know that it takes between 8-9 ms BEST case scenario for a CRT to display its image. This negates the argument "Use a CRT for no input lag!" when there's less than 1ms of a difference between a 9ms LCD and a CRT. If you ever visited the CRT general, most people don't know this.
>What games couldn't be emulated before, and when?
I could tell you were a newfag, thanks for confirming it.
If you really need an example, though you'll just respond with "W-well I need more examples", Indiana Jones on N64 couldn't be emulated as of about two years ago. Now it's perfect. Saturn emulation has changed a lot too.
>Oh, you're one of those shitposters.
Ok? Do you have anything of substance to contribute to the conversation, or are you just continuing with a general "w-well you're shitposting!" attitude?
>OSR translations have been a thing for years now, you really are just throwing shit at a wall to see what sticks, aren't you?
Yeah everyone in retro gaming has been using OSR translations for years, it's been so mainstream /s

Dion Dakis drama was god tier but that unfortunately died out alongside the neo-geo.com circlejerk userbase. There are countless other stuff aside from that insert thing, and IIRC they were sued by SNK Japan at some point for that?

I mostly lurk and feel like having a brain aneurysm with 90% of /vr/ and /v/ threads, you can basically tell which threads are good and which are autistic ebin troll zones by the first 10 posts, and just lol if you actually read those, let alone interact with them.

Everything has lag. Nothing is truly instantaneous. Not even light. That being said, CRTs have the least amount of display lag compared to every other technology out there.

>Everything has lag. Nothing is truly instantaneous. Not even light.
Yes but people thought the CRT lag was much closer to instantaneous rather than much more similar to fast LCDs, and closer to 10ms than 0ms.
>CRTs have the least amount of display lag compared to every other technology out there.
Yes but there's a much smaller difference than people have been thinking there is, for years. The difference is so small it's not even worth considering.
