The thing that irks me about Japanese humor is the progression of technology. With sprites or early 3D you can get away with it, but having realistic-ish models acting weird and Japanese-looking women with subtle cat lips going "haaaaaaiiiii" or "ikimassssssssu" just feels weird. Kinda like the Yakuza games when they try to be funny, it doesn't come off naturally.
