What is the best version of this game? Is it the SNES one, the PS1 one, the DS one, the mobile one, or the Steam one?

I like the ds version if I'm not in front of a TV. it has the new cutscenes of the ps1 without the load times. the mobile port has some "remastering" issues iirc

also I think the steam version is just a port of the mobile one

Depends how important any given thing is to you. SNES is all around great with the standard visuals, music, etc. PS1 introduced the anime cutscenes (not really that important to me but ymmv) but is dragged by noticeable load times. DS has the scenes, no load times, but the graphics and music aren't spot on, though pretty close. Mobile is generally regarded as shit but if playing portably is important and you can't do any better it's acceptable. Barely. Steam version is mobile version very slightly fixed but has the benefit of scaling to extremely high resolution if that matters to you.

I personally attached to the SNES version but I can mostly understand arguments for any version. The game itself is great no matter how you play it. You have to decide what things are important to you.

I have the SNES and DS one. My DS version is pre-ordered with a poster.

You can turn off the cutscenes in the DS version.

DS > SNES > PS1 > Steam > Mobile

The general consensus is to play it on a Nintendo system - not for fanboy reasons, but because somehow every other release is fucked.

The version which made it famous.
