Some multiplayer games:
-Crash Bash
-Crash Team Racing
-Rayman Rush
-Oddworld has multiplayer, but I've never tried it.
-The Twisted Metal Games.
-Most racing games.
-Vigilante 8.
-Bishi Bashi Special
-Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo
-Syphon Filter 2 and 3
-Bust-A-Move (pretty sure there's a few on PS1)
-The Bomberman games.
-Spyro 3 has multiplayer in the boxing minigame, but it's pretty standard in quality. Great single player game, though.

Oh, Worms Armageddon is another good one, as are Rayman Rush and the Jet Moto games.

Single Player stuff:
Crash, Spyro, Tomb Raider, Rayman, Syphon Filter, PaRappa and UmJammer Lammy, THPS 2, Ape Escape, Einhander, Tomba 1 and 2, and Klonoa. There are a lot more-tons of RPGs, for example-but these are some of the more known games.

-FF8, 9, and Tactics
-Xenogears
-Legend of Mana
-Wild ARMS 2
-Jade Cocoon 1 and 2
-The Digimon World Trilogy
-Tales of Destiny
-Vagrant Story

There's, like, a billion more.

Oh, not an RPG, but Frogger 2 and Pac-Man World are fun, as are the Namco Museum games, Tekken 3, Unholy War, Metal Gear Solid, MGS: VR Missions, and Brave Fencer Mushashi. Panekit is supposed to be great, but it's all in Japanese; I don't know if much reading is required to understand the game.

Sorry my lists aren't super-elegant or full of hidden gems. I'm just listing what comes to mind. I know the /vr/ archive is full of threads about PS1 hidden gems. You may want to look there!

While I'm rambling, here's a few more: Jumping Flash! 1 and 2, the Oddworld games, Sheep Raider, Dragon Quest 7, Chocobo's Dungeon, Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere, and Hydro Thunder.

Good thread. I had a funny way of discovering my PS3 can play PS1 games and now I'm excited to play all these old games I never got to during my childhood. Got Parasite Eve CIB for $35 at a local store. Good find?

I saw Syphon Filter at a game store and there were multiple copies so I assumed it was some shovelware. Is it really worth picking up?

Honestly, I'm playing it for the first time, myself. It's not too shabby, though I hesr the sequels are better. It's a first party IP, if that means anything. The game's biggest sin thus far is using dpad controls (in 1999), but the PS Classic doesn't have stick controllers, so I can't totally fault the game for my gripe. Worth a try.

Damn did the Ps1 multiplayer library always suck this bad? The only decent ones there are V8 and Twisted Metal
