How likely is it and the ROM exists and would get leaked one day?

>> No.5993689

we'll have to wait for the boomer hoarders to die off and hope the ROM still works by then

>> No.5993767

Why are people so obsessed with this thing?
It will be a shitty incomplete Super Mario 64.

Very unlikely unless Nintendo goes under or changes hands

Miyamoto personally burned every copy so it would never fall into the dirty hands of filthy baka white piggu. True story.

Maps so radically different it might as well be another game.

Is Nintendo's attitude to source code and assets any different from other Japanese devs like Square and Sega which trash or lose most of the good stuff?

I have seen a lot of the beta photos and footage and most of it looks very similar to the retail version other than the very early alpha releases, which probably had very little content at all.

They held onto Star Fox 2's complete ROM for decades, they kept Super Mario Bros development documents and showed them off with the release of Mario Maker. It's safe to assume they archive a lot of stuff.

I heard the rom is already rotting away, in a couple years it wont even work anymore.

When I was younger I was interested in crap like that but the enthusiasm gradually disappeared as I learned more about programming and game development (and also after seeing leaked betas like Resident Evil "1.5").

It's just a very rough version of the game. Good for historical purposes perhaps but not fun to play at all.

Did they ever finish the RE1.5 restoration? When the partial game first became available I remember being throughly underwhelmed that the only real difference was the RPD.

on some forum there were fixes and patches, but the rooms are rather disconnected as it is, iirc

Who told you that, your uncle's second cousin who works at Nintendo?

>> No.6002106

A master list and some data leaked from Nintendo a while ago. Each game, unreleased or not, has a file directory in its inventory entry for what's very likely its ROM.

It's 70% complete.

The Sonic 2 alphas and betas are good. And there's an interesting Super Mario Bros. 2 leak that's halfway still Doki Doki Panic and has a a unique version of the underground theme that sounds like a WIP of the SMB3 one:
