Hello newfriend, that /vg/ general started out as /stg/ on /vr/ almost half a decade ago, you can still see it in the archives. It's made up of posters from here that have always been around. There's no "raiding", it's simply crossposters who post in both places. There are very few shmup/arcade players on /vr/ so you will always see the same group of people.

Gen 2 was designed with the idea in mind being that the new Pokemon were additions to the old Pokemon, not that they were the focus. They left some Pokemon for the postgame to give players more stuff to do and find in the postgame, the point was to make getting them exciting since they were mostly hidden. Then in Gen 3 it was changed to new Pokemon will be readily available and the old mons will be the hidden secrets you have to hunt down. Gen 6 and 7 went back to 2's style but to a lesser extent.

Nah, as much as I like Ikaruga, it's overrated as all fuck for shmup. I remember it being on that one "Best games of all time" list along with Ocarina of Time, and everyone going on about it's difficulty. Maybe on exact launch day in arcades it could have passed as underrated, but even in the 2000's it was overrated as all fuck.

Because unlike most other shmup companies who focused on shmups, Treasure made games in very different genres that appealed to many different types of people and have gotten quite a big following that shilled their games long before they made Ikaruga. But being released on many systems and then re-released on modern consoles when they were fresh along with the presentation didn't hurt things that's for sure.

Presentation is so cool, music is sick, 5th boss battle is straight anime. Scoring mechanics are also really fun , the background and foreground interaction gives you a sense of flying in the air, probably best retro shmup I've played.
