When using an emulator, does anyone else treat password screens as save rooms? Instead of writing the password down, I just save state of the emulator.

I wonder if that counts as cheating with an emulator. I think not, because, really, they only ever used passwords to make the cartridges cheaper. I'm yet to see a game where it actually was a part of gameplay - I wonder how it'd even work, actually, could be interesting.

Or am I wrong? What's your take on this, /vr/?

Depends if you actually continue from there when you enter the password, or it just happens to tell you the password for the progress you've made.

Sometimes, I don't make a save state, but make a screenshot, and then refer to that instead of writing the password down.

Continuing from a password in some games can fuck you over.

If it gives you anything that using the password system wouldn't, then sure it counts. For example, in Crash Bandicoot, using passwords wouldn't record your number of lives.

It's not, you condescending asshole.

Do whatever the fuck you want to do, you don't need anyone's advice.

You mean, in general, or specifically when you save-state them?

When I play an emulated game I can't let myself use a savestate because if I use one then I won't be able to stop.

>> No.598785

I would say that any use of a savestate that could also have been accomplished simply by leaving the system on is fine.

Is something wrong, guys? Did something unfortunate happen to you?

Not really.

There were already 2 people who had expressed the same opinions as I had. I merely chose quoting them instead of repeating them by simple rewording, if only for the sake of personal conveniance/laziness. Of course, that point has been defeated by your stupidity/sensitiveness now.

Exactly. Anything else you'd like to add?

No, he means in general, sometimes when you resume using passwords it's like a double edged sword, you lose some item progress or it resets your health for example, ridiculous considering somethings you actually work your ass of for.

Shit, double edged blade.*
