Just tried it on E4M1. I managed to snatch one shotgun that fell to the ground near the red key. However, I couldn't reach the red key itself, like it's done in more vanilla ports. Maybe it'd be possible if I screwed up my entire config and learned how to SR50 just to grab that one key, but I really doubt that.
For the voidglide, I'm nowhere near good enough to perform it to test it, so I can't say anything about it.

You'd have to: make a parser that would cut the map into room-size chunks, with moving sectors cut out sepaartely, convert them to models, and assembles them in Fo4 worldspace.
I know there was a prototype random dungeon generator for Morrowind, and the database structure of the worldspaces is basically the same, so you might be able to do it.
Make scripts that replecate Quake functions.

Is it just me, or is the MIDI playback in PRBoom+ really bad?

I'm using the same soundfont on GZDoom, CrispyDoom, and PRBoom+, all with reverb, and it just always sounds awful in PB when compared to the other two. Like it's compressed or something. Is there some protip I'm missing to make it sound good there?

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy Quake, but I can only tolerate it in small doses. I can play Doom for hours on end and not get bored.

You're wrong. GZDoom with Doom/Boom(Strict) compat profile, without mouselook, with autoaim, with switch on pickup and without jumping/crouching gets you 99% of the way to full Doom behaviour, but with the convenience of being able to play vanilla with QoL mods or just gameplay mods.

You can definitely wallrun, it is part of the Doom/Boom(strict) profile.

You can't, because the Doom/Boom(strict) profile also reintroduces the ol' blockmap bug.

The only thing you miss out on from the original experience is speedrun-related things like demo record/playback and voidgliding. Grabs also work, albeit a bit differently. So pinkies can move out of a certain room in Doom 2 when they shouldn't be able to. Big deal. Recommending GZDoom to anyone that is not speedrunning and recording demos to submit to DSA is a good call, and unless you have counters to what I said here, you're likely just a purist.

I will grant, add to the exceptions to the original experience - Lost Souls and Icon of Sin-spawned monsters count toward the Kill% in the score screen, when they didn't in vanilla Doom 2.

This is easily fixable by turning on the "Icon's death kills its spawns" option under Gameplay Options, and by loading this little WAD if you care about the LS thing.

I cannot agree. Most enemies in the Doom 1 roster were pretty much Imps with a slight variation or weak mooks that were pretty much never a threat. Things were quick to kill, while also offering little challenge.

Quake may have less opponents, but each opponent is also more dangerous. Spawns can easily decimate you, especially if you get one of those fun glitches where they can 1 shot you. Fiends also can 1 shot you if you are reckless. Shamblers become nightmarish without any cover; I rather face 10 narons of hell than 10 shamblers in a small box custom map. On nightmare in particular, you can't outrun vore pods, meaning you are stuck with something constantly on your tail.

I feel like the greatest shortcoming of Quake was that there was not enough spawns. Well that and giving you far too much ammo. I wish the player was limited to just the shotgun. I might need to see if I can edit out the other guns and replace all monsters with the spawn.

I actually managed to (successfully) rip one of the super shotgun models from Q:C with Ninja Ripper a while ago, back when I first tried importing models into Doom. It's definitely possible. Ive seen people with the gall to say Blood is underrated in 2019. Cmon, that game is beloved. You know what's underrated? Shadow Warrior. Even most retro FPS fans dont care about it. But it's a fantastic game. Much more polished than Duke 3D. The only issue is that the protagonist and humor aren't as lovable. But the art direction and gameplay are excellent. And the enemy roster is actually more balanced than Blood, pretty much every enemy is a threat (unlike Blood where only 2 or 3 enemies are threatening and the rest are pushovers).

While the default complevel will generally be fine with most wads that can play on prboom+, there are some instances where vanilla wads can break, like maps that rely on things like vanilla's stairbuilding bug for example. Secondly it is a known fact that Build engine on its own cant process vertical and horizontal mouse intputs at the same time.
To fix it use BMouse custom device driver that was made specifically to fix the issue. That's on the Dosbox. Goolging the solution for 1 minute tells you this much.
If you are using a sourceport, either look up the compatibility options, use hardware renderer (iirc it is fixed in all of those) or search up the ports author, call him a faggot and tell him to fix his shit.

Shadow Warrior I feel is most upsetting because it's really good mechanically but has very few enemy variations, official levels, and mods which I feel its ripe for.

I hope a good Source Port could breathe some life into it with Blood catching a more modern audience. I think Classic Redux is quite awful and the two other ones never really got finished. I know so many people who cite the terrible mouse controls on Redux as a reason they never managed to get into it.

Hats might be the answer. You can unlock them through some arbitrary level-up system or achievement hunting like Halo. Maybe if you don't have the time or patience you could buy something you want for 0.99. Nothing too ridiculous and OOC, just little alternative styles.
But since this is Quake, there would have to be some sort of user mods as well. That's a thing QIIIA had going for it, the models were low-poly enough that non-professionals could make things while 3D modellers could make some amazing stuff.

The issue with Valve is that they don't really "make" stuff that much, just more cosmetics for existing titles and... Dota card games. But a new release of any sort, even an AFPS, would likely garner attention considering it would have their name attached.
Also a lot of things in QC probably kill you besides a lack of a server browser. Poor optimization, weird netcode, rockets not working properly for 2 years, no non-champion gamemodes, no updates for 11 months, etc.
