But like Strider was one of the best games ever made for classic consoles.

Not made for consoles and not even the best 16 bit ninja game

What about Strider 2 for PSX ? I really wanted to get it but was unable to find it for a decent price.

Just emulate it, an all around improvement imo

It’s true

Shame pce version turned out poorly, considering how good forgotten worlds is on it. The extra stage is okay but there were supposed to be two. Almost 5 years in development hell yet so many issues

>shitty color palette
>odd aspect ratio
>flicker
>sliding is wonky
>slashing works as quickly while climbing
>redbook is good but a good portion of the OST is omitted
>multilingual cutscene cheese replaces by boring anime shit
>all bosses have the same generic theme except grandmaster
>all minibosses have a speech, interrupting gameplay flow
>outsourced by NEC Avenue to a no name dev called Dice

Agreed.
That airship stage with the gravity core was pure fire.

Deep down you know Osman the Cannon Dancer is the better game.

I played it on the Sega Genesis.

That's a console, right?

I know it started as an arcade game, but I don't remember enjoying it nearly as much.

The Genesis version is an amazingly faithful port of a game that ran on much much more powerful arcade hardware. It's just kinda zoomed in and there's some little shortcuts here and there. It was downright dazzling at the time.

Zoom Zoom.

Also, the console versions were all greatly inferior to the arcade version, and Strider is a fun action game, but there's nothing particularly groundbreaking about it.

I wonder what that other planned extra stage was about.
