No, it isn't. It was published and developed by Sega, and they made it unique. Flash Point, its official spin-off, is the only "arcade version" of this game. You're thinking of the NES Tengen game, which actually is based on the arcade Tetris.

>>5963532

How does this meme still exist and who started it? The game was released in Japan a long time ago, and it was quickly taken off the market. It's unironically been on ROM sites for decades.

>>5963630
Games Can Selector (aka, Game no Kanzume Otokuyou) is the only one I'm aware of. Hopefully based OP included it in this long ass download that I'm still downloading, because I've been looking forward to that one most of all.

The download appears to be extracted from the US version of the device, so Game no Kanzume Otokuyou isn't on there, but according to >>5963665 it's out there somewhere.

Here's a list of what's included in the download:
https://pastebin.com/xdbN4fWp
It appears that the first region in the filename is the region of the device, and the second is the region of the game. Amusingly, Puyo Puyo is listed as the Japanese version of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, which I suppose is correct in a way.
