Analogue put this on their Instagram

Get ready for that FPGA Game Boy.

When I pitched it a couple months ago, Anon was ready to throw money at me. I don't know why no one has stuck a Game Hat on a MiSTer yet but it's no surprise Analogue would beat them to it. Probably in a tighter form factor too and with a GBC/A cart slot to "boot"

Evidentially, just because they can.

In case you don't know, Analogue already filed a trademark for "Analogue Pocket".
https://trademark.trademarkia.com/analogue-pocket-88320589.html

Given this and the coloring in the picture, I think it's safe to guess that's what this is. So GB(C) seems obvious, but what of Advance games, or cores for other handhelds? I wonder the details.

You belong here least of all.

If they implement my rebranding of the NT and SG into premium consoles with available cores maybe but I bet they still think the market will buy up separate hardware for every console. We'll see how MiSTer progresses - if Kevtris can go Mano e Mano with a whole open source community or if Analogue headhunts some key devs off it

What’s their business model going to be once they run out of consoles that anyone cares about? They have what, 5 more maybe?

Sell PC-Engines and MSXes in Asia

That brings up the idea of the Analogue 8 also listed, though. Some believe it's to be a new version of the NT Mini, built with plastic this time so it can be sold at a sane price, and embracing that it contains cores for all 8-bit systems.

Besides their consoles being overpriced as shit I honestly don't get the hate for their products. I mean according to almost everyone it's really accurate, fast and convenient for if you have original cartridges. Would never buy anything from them at that price point but still.

Premium collector edition reprints of previously sold consoles. Multi console support boxes. Superguns. They could do tons of stuff.

>>5938361
Yeah it's probably past time for that but Analogue has built up their brand enough people will eat it up.

But what else could it be?

>> No.5938407

I'm also curious if they'll push their luck by not including a GBA core so they can sell it separately later. I'm happy with my SuperNt/Sg but I would pass on a pocket without GBA support.

A lot of people want them to put out a more affordable FPGA NES but I'm hoping they put out an NES cart adapter for the Super Nt instead. The Analogue 8 trademark points toward something else but at the very least that should include Master System and Turbografx support as well.

Basically I'm willing to continue supporting them since they make good products but only as long as they consolidate their releases to a reasonable degree.

Me and my backlit DMG are doing just fine without paying $$$ for an emulation box, thanks

DMG?

>> No.5938745

>>5938351
When they run out of systems to emulate they'll come out with newer ones with more powerful FPGAs touting greater accuracy. Or maybe they'll make a super system with multiple cores on it, like a SNES/Genesis hybrid, which was supposed to be the whole point of using FPGAs in the first place.

More complex consoles are a bitch to turn into an FPGA. A guy over on psxdev has spent literally thousands of hours trying to make a PS1 FPGA and he's a professional developer. He's not even done, lmao.

It will probably have a larger better screen and hdmi out with shaders. Probably a controller port too.
