I only buy games from Japan, not because i enjoy them more, but because UPS fees are stupidly high. A game from Japan with tracking is $5, and from USA is $25-30 without tracking. What the fuck burgers, your mailmans have limusines to make deliveries? why the fuck is so expensive?

It sucks that EMS Japan to US now has a $20 base rate. A lot of things I get through Japan are via a deputy service, so in that case it is best just to let it accumulate and then ship multiple things at once. For cheap shit that isn't particularly rare and that you don't care about waiting a month for, slow boat shipping is really the best idea to make it worth it.

Anything that sells for $5 or under is better off putting it into a lot together and filling a flat rate box with.

Alternatively see if you can use them for trade fodder. Someone who resells stuff very weekend at the swap meet or whatever might take your 5 $5 games for an easy to find $20 game like Contra so now you're basically compounding your collection to be smaller but worth about the same since you'd lose that $5 in fees and materials anyway.

Just got to streamline your process, find what you're packing it in when you're taking photos, weigh it all together (i usually add a piece of 32lb or resume paper but that's probably overly cautious) and set it aside. I like doing it this way anyway because it keeps the item in the same exact condition i photographed it in and there's no real chance of it getting misplaced or scuffed or whatever.

Valuable games you sell individually, non valuable ones you sell as a lot, if you have a ton of games sell them in 7 game bundles. If you try selling say like 40 games in one lot and charge $130 it’ll sit forever or won’t sell at all. But if you bundle 7 invaluable games and sell them for $35 it’ll be far more likely to sell and sell faster.

Also Japanese games are usually in near brand new condition.

If yo buy a game from an American it’s usually just the cart by itself and the label looks like it was in a flood or if a disc based game the cd is scratched to hell, and in both cases the manual is usually missing, and or the case is in piss poor condition. Americans don’t take care of their things.

Have eBay slap the buyer with an unpaid buyer strike, if they get 2 of them nobody we’ll sell to them and they get a few month long suspension. >Dude, if the lotto is really such a poor way to make money, why do so many people buy lottery tickets?
>Dude, if chinese made shit is garbage, why do so many people buy it?
It's a gamble. Most of the resellers on ebay are trying to turn a profit and sell tons of games instead of a handful. Having 10 or so buyers fuck over a reseller isn't the end of the world for them, since they are still turning a profit. Having 5 or so buyers fuck over a guy trying to sell off his collection means he's out of both the games and the money, and is left with nothing.

If you don't think this shit is happening, just look on the ebay forums. Seller after seller complaining that the buyer asked for a refund and sent a completely different item. Seller after seller complaining that ebay told them to refund anyways, and take it to the police if they want anything done about it. And if you think your local police are going to waste time going after an ebay scammer, you really live in fantasy land. This is just the way ebay is, even if you don't want to believe it.

As someone who has been using ebay since 1999 and has never been fucked over as a buyer and never fucks anyone over as a seller it really bums me out seeing shitty the behavior I read about on the forums. Also makes me nervous about continuing to sell. So far I haven't had to deal with a scam buyer, but when I see past threads on this board about people all admitting to scamming sellers it makes me not want to do it anymore.

I am not an online store, I am an individual seller just thinning out my collection to either downsize or make room for different games. So getting scammed by one of these scam buyers would fuck me out of a game and money and time.

And in my situation ebay is my only option for both buying and selling retro games. I live in bumfuck nowhere in flyoversville USA. I know gamestop takes retro now but I'm not trading to them for about tree fiddy, also gamestop will destroy anything they don't move in a timely manner, and the last thing I want to do is contribute to the destruction of these old games that someone somewhere wants and making them just that little bit harder to find. Also they don't take Japanese import games and about half of my collection is Japanese imports.

And on a buyers end, all the local thrift shops and goodwills in my area only have old people clothes and knick knacks. Old games are a no go here. Like you said ebay and the police aren't gonna do fuck all.
