It's a good game, not as good as the sequel but still good. But what the fuck is up with that music, holy fuck. It completely fucks with the atmosphere and is just complete torture to listen to. I'll fucking go insane if I have to listen to that shit for too long. And jeez it took me about three hours just to complete the first level. I explored every tiny little detail and secrer of that map only to find out that there was simpy a door in plain sight that I repeatesly just walked by. Fuck me man. Also, the sperg gun or whatever it's called is literally just a phaser.

If you're using the enhanced edition, whatever they use to play the MIDIs is fucked.

You're probably playing it in such a way that the speed of the music is too fast. The standard music should sound like this:

That's correct. The rendition of those tracks is using a set of custom SoundFonts (as opposed to Windows default library or plucked from a list). The arrangement has been messed around with and other effects have been added. Ignore the YouTube zoomers.

You do realize there's no "default" instrument set on DOS, that varied wildly depending on your sound card

I presumed OP was referring to the EE version—or at least the classic port. I can't imagine what moonbattery would possess anyone to play the DOS version.

I've played the game. Sounded the same, or similar enough, for me.

That's you being retarded and not paying attention, not the game's fault.

the music is dynamic though, changing overtime based on where you are and such. anyways im not a huge fan of the music in enhanced edition myself. how would one change the soundfont? is this possible?
