Don't bother, fighting games suck and the "retro" fighting games are populated online by people who have been playing it for over a decade.

Fightcade hasn't been a thing since 93, jackass.

Learn frame data. Watch good players that use your preferred character play. And obviously practice.

>> No.5904007

>>5903531
watch how good players play and if you can, rewatch your matches to see your fails. the rest is practice to not commit those fails and sharpen your reactions.

It's the only way to play the overwhelming majority of fighting games from the 90s online.
>hurr play SFV
No. That game is trash.
>hurr go to da arcade
Where is it, faggot? Where is this mythical "arcade" you speak of?

>> No.5905391

>>5905375
I was unironically going to come in here and say play SFV :c

Whatever, I like it, there's a big playerbase so it's super easy to find people your level, and the easier timing of inputs is precisely what a beginner needs. I'm not very good but I have fun playing it.

Opinion discarded. SFV is one of the worst fighting games ever made.

lol, this fucking moron thinks retards on fightcade are pros

I've only been playing FGs for 2 and a half years and I stomp 90% of people on there in multiple games

100% of zoomers just pull shit out of their ass. And respond hysterically without understanding, like you're about to do.

>> No.5909749

>>5903531
Try to think about why you're losing, what you could have done different in certain situations. If you can record matches and watch them back it helps a lot. And when you encounter a situation where you don't know what you could have done better, look into it (via training mode and/or asking actual good players).

This is also a good starting point for general FG strategy: https://sonichurricane.com/?page_id=1702 It focuses on Street Fighter but most of it is universally applicable.

fight shittier players

I'm the ultimate fighting game guy in my circles of friends across different versions of Virtua Fighter, Tekken, Street Fighter, Soulcalibur.

But the thing is, they have jack shit for skills. I'm pretty sure if I actually played against decent people, I'd get bodied or at least get real decent fights.

Pretty much this.
You practice to see what your moves are.
You practice to find out what characters work best for your playstyle.
And finally, you practice to figure out how to block and counter everything.

>>5910469
You are overthinking it. Just be Chad and the wins will come to you.

Not him and it really isn't. If someone decides to invest time in that game, they should know not to expect hardly any carry-over and a lot of flatout contradiction to the game logic that governs most fighting games. It's as if Capcom took a time machine back to the '90s when kids bitched about throws and wakeup special moves and decided to build a game specially for them.
