Pac Man World 2 had an arcade in the hub with machines for a bunch of arcade games like Ms Pac Man, Pac Mania, Pac Attack (including the level based puzzle mode) etc, which you unlocked by collecting coins hidden in levels. It was a great addition. The first two Pac Man World games were surprisingly solid 3D platformers.

Super Famicom is peak Akaneia / Archanea.
Famicom is an unabridged Book 1 but archaic and you're not missing too much if you skip.
DS has a too-faithful remake of Famicom for the first and a not-faithful-enough remake of Super Famicom for the second, and both of them include bullshit changes such as offing your units for additional chapters and having a self-insert constantly upstage Marth in his own game (not to mention the horrifically stilted graphics and animation).

It's time constraints. There's actually quite a bit of free space leftover even with Kanto, but the game had already been extensively delayed and delaying further could have killed the brand (the only reason Yellow and the Orange Island anime season exist is because they needed extra time and needed to keep the hype train going).
>>5898369
Iwata, as amazing as he was, didn't directly compress the game data. He just gave Game Freak a compression tool HAL used about half a decade prior for Kirby's Dream Land 2, which was significantly better than the compression method they were using.
If you want something impressive about Iwata and Pokémon, know that he coded Pokémon Stadium's battle system in a week with zero documentation from Game Freak, reverse engineering the system from RBY himself. I really wish he had gotten his wish to program one more game before passing.

They're all good at doing their own thing, surprisingly. Book 1 of Mystery is probably the weakest version of FE1 but it still has it's appeal with it's new mechanics and some of the ways they cut down the fat of FE1 are sometimes closer to improvements than downgrades.

Actual FE1 is kind of weak at this point but it still is fully playable. A little too easy though, and book 1 of new mystery isn't much better about this. if we're talking about difficulty than look no further than Shadow Dragon's Hard 5. SD's Hard 5 makes it my favorite version of FE1, it's very satisfying to make it out of the hard as nails beginning, get better at the game, and then wipe the floor with the later chapters. It's not perfect and some of the changes might throw you off if you're a purist (Inflated movement, re-classing, the weapon triangle suddenly existing and it's surprisingly heavy bonuses.)

>>5893828
>both of them include bullshit changes such as offing your units for additional chapters and having a self-insert constantly upstage Marth in his own game (not to mention the horrifically stilted graphics and animation).
SD's gaidens were included to make the game retard proof. They aren't bonuses, and most players will never unintentionally get them because the requirements are only met if you actually play like complete shit. And because their only purpose is to give the worst of the worst an edge if they end up in a tough spot, they take away nothing. Unlike
>having a self-insert constantly upstage Marth in his own game
I fully agree with you about New Mystery, Kris is a garbage addition. The other issue with New Mystery is that there is no de-mounting equivalent so a lot of indoor maps just snap in two.
>(not to mention the horrifically stilted graphics and animation).
Personally I'm indifferent to the artstyle, most of the animations, sprites, and environments are mediocre but the portraits look pretty good. The remixes and new tracks are fantastic in both games.

Only the last one does by giving you a weaker Tiki and Falchion in the event you lose both the originals, since they're about the only two things able to actually damage Medeus.

Fair warning: The FE1 remake in Mystery is pretty abridged and is missing like 6 chapters from the original game. Still pretty solid though.

Advance Wars on GBA (and later on DS) includes almost all maps from their NES/SNES predecessors (Super Famicom Wars, Famicom Wars) as extra playable content.

Picross on DS did the same with Mario's Picross (SNES/GB), as downloadable content.
