What is your all time favorite beat 'em up?
I would have a tough time telling you but its probably SOR2 or cyberbots

>> No.5877419

Not a fan of beat-'em-up's buy throw a good flog'n'jog, hop'n'bop, whip'n'skip, bump'n'grind, shoot'n'scoot, stop'n'chop, smash'n'dash or pound'n'bound in front of me and I'm game son.
Not a common choice but I will say the Tekken modes are fun once in a while, like Tekken 3 or whatever where you can play the game like that.

>> No.5877424

Final Fight, it's unrefined compared to later beat em ups but the enemies are absolutely relentless and the game really wants you dead like no other beat em up I've played. No idea how Capcom managed to nail so much first try

Previously was Cadillacs and Dinosaurs and Turtles in Time. Them I found it, The mostry amazing Beat'em up of all time, the timeless classic Dungeons and Dragons: Shadow over Mystara. Wish I could get a grasp on something as magnificent as that.

Try Cyborg Justice. For a Genesis controller, you have an awful lot of functions. It's not like other brawlers, but it's pretty neat.

Legit. I like the way you can straight up assrape the enemies in the arcade version, but the slowdown is such a pain in the ass.

>>5878027
Was way into that game when it came out. Being able to rip cyborgs apart, and taking their components in real time was the shit. Kind of a flimsy game otherwise, but it was fun for sure.

Tekken Force mode in T3. We need more fighting game beat em up hybrids, with full character movesets and bigger rosters. Traditional beat em ups are pretty shallow since you normally only have a small handful of characters (at best) that play similarly.

>> No.5880717

>>5880703
Guilty Gear Judgement did that. It sucked big time. Big movesets are nice and all, but no one's going to balance all that shit so you end up incoherent messes or comically exploitable games. Tekken 3 Force is like that too, you pick a couple of moves and use them against all the identical enemies.

They had that six-player variant at the local movie theatre. I remember playing it before going to see Street Fighter: The Movie. Didn't it have two CRTs side-by-side?

>> No.5881421

>>5880717
Huh I didn't think Judgement was bad at all. It was a fun diversion for an hour or two. Doing reverse qcb motions without switching sides was the only problem I had with it.

I dunno man if you only played through it once and dropped it immediately after without 1cc'ing the harder difficulties that's not a very fun game in my book.

But yes, you're correct. After I unlocked every character I just ended up replaying GGXX and forgot about Judgement. Not a bad deal for 10 bucks though.

TIME TO HUNT

>> No.5882052

It isn't official but I got to go with the Streets of Rage fan remake. Its got some issues but it just hits all the right spots for me as a beat 'em up. The only real negatives I see in it are that you can spam star moves with no penalties if you have your games settings to allow it and that some bosses can be a bit too hard due to the way the AI works.

Hmm probably Streets of Rage 2 and Hyperstone Heist. Both D&D games and Punisher for arcade too.
But really, they're usually generally too simplistic. That genre really needed some RPG elements baked into it.
