I just beat this game for the first time. Damn this was a great game. One of my favorite Final Fantasy games now. Let's get a FF6 thread going? Who was your favorite character? Party setup?

In the end my main party was Celes, Sabin, Edgar, and Terra.

My problem that I had with Mog was I mostly used him with that relic whenever I didn't feel like dealing with random encounters, so those he never really saw battles much and ended up under leveled. Shame really.

Currently replaying this now, albeit as an FF3 (US) cart. Trying it as a low-level game, to make things different.

Figaro bros., though Edgar slightly edges out Sabin/Mash for me.

Edgar, Sabin/Mash, Celes and Shadow.

Each character can turn out to be worthwhile and the game is so easy that there's no need to play based on which character is better/more powerful. So I play for favourites more than anything else.

Though I went into the final battle with Gau instead of Sabin. I had him equipped with Tempest, Offering, and Merit Award, plus I used the Stray Cat Rage.

Locke, Terra, Sabin, Edgar. Memorizing Sabin's hyper attacks(forget the name) and Edgar's fucking chainsaw were the keys to damage, while Locke was midground, and Terra was a healer. All party members knew damn near all magcka too, so everyone could heal.

Blue mage characters are underrated. They take more effort to level up than others so most don't bother with them. Sometimes they aren't worth it but some if you put in the effort and go the extra mile to get them good abilities can turn out great.

The console is used but it comes with everything that was boxed and 5 and 6 are complete with their boxes minus the little plastic cartridge sleeves. It was an amazing deal IMO, but even if it wasn't I'm just glad I got these games away from the resellers.

Remember the rumors online about how you could revive him legitimately? Well I tried the one where you had to fight something like 4,000 battles in the forest shaped like a dragon in the WoR. It didn't work. I sat there all summer with my little notebook and pencil, counting out 4,000 fucking battles in that place. Crazyness. Thankfully that prepared me for all the batshit insane rumors about how to catch a Mew in pokemon, so my time wasn't entirely wasted.

Back before the 3DS they said they did not remake it on the DS like they did with 3 and 4 was due to technological limitations.. and I can see that with the opera, voice acting for 14 characters and not to mention other story important characters, list goes on. I just finished a playthrough on FF3us1.0 cart version a few seconds ago.

Terra has to be my favorite character, used her for most of WoR due to how powerful and versatile she was. Gave her a Genji Glove (had 9 due to stealing from Dragons in WoR) and a Black Belt for more damage. She had powerful magic and melee, on top of that being able to equip the elemental swords you get that powered through most bossfights that had an elemental weakness.. oh and Morph, 9999 damage at level 40? sign me up.

As for party makeup.. I broke it down like this:

Red Mages: Terra, Celes, Locke, Edgar

Mages: Strago, Relm, Gau

Fighters: Everyone else

Team1: Terra, Mog, Cyan, Strago
Team2: Celes, Locke, Setzer, Gau
Team3: Edgar, Sabin, Shadow, Relm
Kefka: Terra, Locke, Celes, Strago

I've played this game too many times. My last playthrough:

Terra, superb all around character, morph ability
Setzer, get Fixed Dice from Kefka's tower immediately upon entering WoR while wearing Moogle Suit, combine with Offering for an attack that ignores defense
Relm, highest magic stat in the game
Shadow, with GBA version glitched evasion is corrected, highest evasion

This thread and all the Terra feels, man. I was just playing some Dissidia 012 on break, screwing around in Scenario 000, spoke with Terra near the Western Keep teleport stone. Holy shit Square is going all-in with the balls-out 180 on her character from FF6 going into Dissidia. I mean yeah it's implied she got plucked from either the game's first 15 minutes or slightly before, but it's horrifying to a degree as to how Typical Japanese Girl she got made (and after getting surrogate character development during the 013 plot at that).

Though the depressive-submissive streak DOES make her good shipping bait with Ultimecia or Prishe.
