2) more than one classic game (And don't try to pretend sonic for SMS is a classic. No one bought it here. And Ys also came out on famicom).
3) (if counting japan) The job system in FF3 is really, really fun.

Phantasy Star (1) is probably my favorite 8 bit RPG (Maybe excluding Pokémon), but that doesn't blind me to the fact that it is pretty much the sole reason to own an SMS.
