I'm really into retro gaming mostly FPS stuff like blood and DOOM and was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a good monitor that is in the 4:3 aspect ratio so I can get some trad gaming going

what's the point then? a 4:3 lcd would ruin most aesthetics as well. A lot of retro shootan have ports that can run in 16:9 or can simply have black bars on the side.
there is no reason to have a 4:3 LCD in the current year of our lord. You'll look like a poser regardless.

I'm just trying to find a high refresh rate 4:3 to play older games on bruh chill out

A Dell Ultrasharp like 2007FP. These go for very cheap.

Boy, you have a very, VERY long search ahead of you, because that doesn't exist.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NTR1K32/ref=psdc_1292115011_t2_B000UVDONY this was something that I was looking into as I am a huge fan of ASUS thanks for the rec though it seems promising

Just set an ordinary LCD to not stretch the aspect ratio you dumb fuck.

I undsertand how to switch aspect ratios on a modern 16:9 what I am asking for is a secondary monitor that would be good to use on games from 2000-2006 where 1080p and above were not intended, so I won't need to patch anything or mess with config files. Do you people not know what a second monitor is

Since no one else is being useful I would suggest looking for a Dell Monitor with a really fancy Stand.

Something like this Dell 1907FPc I have beside me I think was made between 2006 and 2008.

best 4:3 display you can possibly find will probably have 1600x1200 resolution.
on the other hand, 5:4 monitors (1280x1024) do 4:3 (1280x960) very well with only very small black bars. if you run a 1280x960 window, you'll have just enough space for the application's title bar and maybe the system task bar

you're unlikely to find anything better than 75Hz max. refresh rate and """5ms""" response time (it's always advertised as that, but never in practice - closer to 15-20ms)

>>5861206
Why not just set shit up to run the games with 4:3 with black bars on the sides? You can easily do this with most games.

Just buy a CRT and get the original experience.

Do you not have the Space for a CRT, OP?

Interested in this too. CRTs hurt my eyes and I hate how they look in general, too blurry.

I have seen these floating around but I might go with the ASUS 4:3 as it matches the current monitor I have thanks for the rec

I do have the space I just don't really want to deal with the issue of it clashing against my current computer setup

Yea... I got a 21 inch Dell Trinitron that pretty much takes over where ever you put it.
