Who else bought this as a kid with their monthly allowance and finished it in like 1½ hours?

I remember being so sad. It's the only time I've ever had buyer's remorse.

>> No.5857375

i just rented it and enjoyed it a lot lol

>> No.5857380

i guess they could've made the game 3-4 times bigger

>> No.5857383

super cool story, roodypoo.

its impossible to actually beat the game so fast in the first play through as a kid... even as an adult id say, theres tons of tricks to do to snap em all.

I rented it, it was a fantastic rental, I did end up buying it on the wii eshop too, where it was much more reasobably priced.

They could have done a lot with this format on the gamecube, it's a shame they never followed this up with a more robust sequel.

their reasoning for not making a sequel:

>"All I can say is that I don’t think we can just make the same thing again"
even though that's exactly what they did literally 30 goddamn times in the main series. total bullshit. the game is 20 fucking years old and the few people who still remember it would probably love a sequel. it would have vastly superior graphics, be able to include hundreds of pokemon, could let the player roam around freely instead of being stuck on a rail, let the player record video instead of just taking pictures, etc. the only reason they won't make one is that they don't think it would sell, which is probably wrong, as a game about taking pictures of cute animals is an inherently appealing idea.

Well, we do have PokemonGO now.

It took me 4 hours. I finished it the first time I played it. I did have an issue of EGM (I think) that told all the secrets, though.

This is honestly one of the worst games ever made.

is it really that bad? it's kind of slow, but it's ok as a simple photography simulator. i think i'ts an ok game

yeah, my friends and I took to speedrunning this game for how hilariously short it was. I feel like we used to be able to photograph every pokemon in about 30 minutes.

No, it took me at least a few weeks until I finally discovered every secret.
I remember buying this game and gathering around with my cousins and friends to play it, comfy ass times to be quite honest.
I think this was also the last game my female cousin actually loved, I believe she played it more than I did, and we'd compete to see who could take the best shots.
I played the game again recently, and I was actually surprised, it's very good. A very non traditional kind of rail shooter, interactions with the monsters and the environment is really well thought out. Playing for score can be fun, since you have to maximize the use of your 60 shots to get the most amount of points possible, that means taking both the most amount of pokemon variety, and the best shots of each of them.
I agree the game could have been longer (and have all 151 monsters), but it's still a well made game. A shame there isn't other game like this (other than Gekisha Boy in PC Engine, which is similar but side-scroller instead of 3D like Snap).

>speedrunning pokemon snap
Pure autism.

>> No.5857697

It's an arcade type of game that can be finished in under an hour, why not?
Unless you mean speedrunning in general is autistic... which I guess it's true.

I bought it and brought it over to a friends house and beat it in a couple hours. When the credits rolled I started making excuses for it being so short. “Uh t-there’s gotta be more stages I didn’t unlock!”

Why do you bother replying to bait, hasn't the degeneration of /v/ taught you anything?

Define "beat". Snap is the sort of game where you keep replaying the courses trying to photograph the rarer pokemon and 100% it
