Lads, what are THE Dreamcast games I need to play?

I never owned one, but I remember at the time playing Soul Edge at a friends and it blew my mind.

Did the DC have any worthwhile games at all?

Depends on what genres you want. Dreamcast has a good variety among most genres. Only genre I think it's lacking in is action/adventure stuff ala zelda, and platformers not called sonic. But especially for arcadey games and multiplayer, its god tier

Craven coward.

This, but add Ikaruga, Seaman, Samba De Amigo, Space Channel 5, Sonic Adventure, Puyo Puyo Fever, Garuou Mark of the Wolves, King of Fighters 99 Dream match, Hydro Thunder and Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver.

The dreamcast had a lot of good games, is what I'm getting at.

>> No.5845149

I recommend Chu Chu rocket, crazy taxi and shenmue if you can't get hold of it. I loved shutoko battle/ Tokyo highway challenge but the 2 one is rare.

Crazy Taxi. Just Crazy Taxi.

I got most of them when I bought my Dreamcast. There not very reliable I'll say that.

Illbleed is more funny than scary, but that's why I like it. It's like watching a Nightmare on Elm Street movie.

Saturn straight up died as soon as the Dreamcast came out in Japan. It barely got over 20 fucking games in 1999

>> No.5845252

Saturn also lived twice as long as the DC and arguably has better games.

If he were a mole he wouldn't have made the DC's launch in America as awesome as it was.

He just acknowledged that the Saturn was a mistake. SoJ knew that as well.

>> No.5846176

Here’s all you need to know about it. The Neo-Geo was released in 1990. A game called Garou Mark of the Wolves (GMOTW) came out for it around the turn of the century. It is a fighting game with very beautiful graphics, despite being on a system that was obsolete and a decade old. That game was ported to the Dreamcast which was released in 1999. The technological advances made in computers and games in that nine year span was exponential. Yet this game designed to run on an out of date obsolete 16-bit system is disgusting, choppy, incomplete, and wretched on the dreamcast. That’s all you need to know.

>> No.5846181

Not mentioned in this thread yet (that I could see after a quick browse):
Sonic Adventure 2
Daytona USA
Record of Lodoss War
Grandia 2 (Easily the best game on the system)

Wow this thread's recommendations are a mess.

The Dreamcast has a small handful of great games across various genres and a consistent, unique aesthetic. It is similar to the Gamecube in this regard. But while the Gamecube was focused on first-party home multi-player games, the Dreamcast is primarily about arcade-style action games. Many of its more notable exclusives have been ported at this point, but many others haven't.

Zombie Revenge
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Jet Grind Radio
Dynamite Cop
Capcom vs SNK PRO
Marvel vs Capcom 2
Virtual-On: Oratorio Tangram
Tech Romancer
Power Stone
Crazy Taxi
Border Down
Gauntlet Legends
Project Justice
Border Down
Cosmic Smash
Grandia II
Gunbird 2
Hydro Thunder
L.O.L: Lack of Love
Skies of Arcadia
The Last Blade 2
Under Defeat

Thanks so much everyone for the overwhelming response. From the passion in here, it's clear that the DC has some really cool stuff on it. I can't wait to play the Jojo game
