I remember seeing screenshots of this in a magazine I had back then, and as a Monkey Island fan I was very interested in this. played it years later and it.. wasn't very well coded.

Start with LSL1 (original on DOS), it's pretty gentle and doesn't have way too difficult puzzles

If you like that, you can try space quest and kings quest and go from there.

These games have a certain charm that wasn't present in the point-and-click adventures
