Just bought a Super Famicom recently from a retro game store along with a copy of the Sailor Moon R beat em up. Now, I think it goes without saying, but I think just anyone can pick up and play a beat em up, regardless of what language the game utilizes.

So, any recommendations that you, the fine folks of /vr/, have for someone looking for Super Famicom games which I need little to no understanding of the Japanese language?

We would have recommended just cutting the tabs out of your SNES but I guess pick up Super Metroid since it's exactly the same.

Thanks for contributing nothing to the discussion. Would you like a gold star?

Don't include everyone else in your unaesthetic butchery. Super Famicom is a true gentleman's purchase. Well done, OP.

OP here. Guess I should've been a bit more specific when asking for Super Famicom game recommendations that require little to no understanding of the Japanese language. I'm actually looking for games that haven't been released in the US for the SNES.

Well most of those games weren't localized because of cultural reasons like that Sailor Moon game you already got, Sailor Moon wasn't considered well known enough in the West at the time to be worth localizing even with little text to translate. The DBZ fighting games are in that same category. One notable game that didn't get brought over because of objectionable religious content is Majuu Ou but it costs like a thousand dollars for a real copy.

All the good games were localized in America, and you're gonna be feeling stupid as fuck playing shit in Japanese if you can't read it

Oh shit how could we have forgotten Umihare Kawase until just now lol. That's a /vr/ staple for sure

Would anyone be asking for Super Famicom recommendations if they didn't know there were quality games that never made their way to the US?

>> No.5753941

Almost of the games I have that I would recommend are text heavy and not just JRPGs but things likeparty games, dating sims and board games, but a sure bet is to try the licensed games you're a fan of, I like Crayon Shin-chan 2 Daimaou no Gyakushuu a lot for one.

I just saw a new trailer to the upcoming sequel and I hope to save up enough by Black Friday to get the system it could play on, but Ninjawarriors Again on the Super Famicom is very enjoyable to play. Could get you hyped for the sequel too.
