What I want then is for you to piss off from my timeline and no longer appear wherever I am talking, and also to shut your mouth online about me. That is what I want. Also, reimburse the money for that Shield hardware would be a nice gesture back. "I don't like you and have no interest in working with you" - yeah the dude who sent you that hardware whom I had to convince to send it to you because I wanted to show my appreciation for your work would be sure glad to know what the return on his investment was - 'alright, hope he stays'. That is what happens when I take chances on people. Pathetic parasite. If you don't like me and have no interest working with me, then you don't need the toys I hooked you up with either. Reimburse the money already. There is a 'donate' button on the website right there, with several options on how to reimburse it. And no, I don't need the hardware back, I need that money you took from a guy whom 'you don't like'. I can find better contributors that I could hook up with some other gear instead, and unlike you they don't stalk me around either and fling mud in my face.
Go fuck yourself with your sanctimonious bullshit, and BTW, next time I see you entering another thread again where I am around, one of my repos, places where you were unmentioned, and you keep this kind of 'prodding' along, I will report you. That I can assure you. I am about fed up with your constant vitriolic bullshit buddy and now I'm about to do something about it. You are put on notice here. Awful GUI, frequently used as software on ripoff devices and the creators know damn well this is the case, games will often simply not run, it's entry-level emulation when doing even a little bit of searching will get you better results than retroarch, retroarch just looks unacceptable when it comes to speed and texture quality, shaders that simply will not work whatever game you're playing, unacceptable Nintendo 64 emulation.

But that's what other people will talk about when they say they dislike retroarch, /vr/'s reason for hating retroarch is more about what retroarch stands for, which is conventional emulation. Retroarch has helped people that aren't into emulation get into it without having to learn the ins and outs of emulation, you can grab your rom, load any of the emulators that goes with the game and you're done, /vr/ doesn't like that because they're purists.

I said it before in a previous thread but I hate how dishonest people are with the price. Sure it is cheap by itself but don't pretend its a 50ish dollar computer right out of the box. You still need to buy the power supply, the micro HDMI cable, a case probably, an extra micro SD card, and a tiny little heatsink so the thing doesn't overheat. If you severely lack in peripherals it could suddenly jump to nearly 100 dollars. Its biggest advantage is incredibly low power draw and size for a computer.

In reality its a hobbyist device or a specialist device with very specific uses. If you want a cheap emulation station you can find a used or refurbished laptop far more powerful than this thing for less.

I don't hate it. I only despise the degenerates that shill for it as an emulation machine. They always find a way to bring it up into the conversation even when they're asked not to. It's like the joke with vegans bringing up the fact they're vegans whenever they have a chance. I honestly don't know why it is the way it is. I'm guessing some of them think it's hard to set it up and therefore like to parrot about it, but it's really not. Not even the Wii gets shilled as much.

I see no point in a pi personally. Ignoring my n64 collection I've spent maybe $300 or so in total and I have access to most everything I care about, output to whatever display I want, and the ability to do whatever the fuck I want with whatever software I want. Stallman would like a word.
You can sell open source software. You just have to provide the source per the Public Licence.
The people who make the PI Retroarch clones seem to do this.(most of the time but i bet you are going to be a faggot and point to one faggot out of 1000 who don't) Most of the hate comes from the Lead Dev squarepusher who regularly rants and raves about how he is not getting a slice of the PI.(Money for the autistic people who do not get puns and jokes)
Most of them seem to be sold to people either to lazy or stupid to compile from source and just want a "JUST WERKS" solution. Free market to exploit really. Buy cheep PIs put retroPi on it, get cheep as fuck case. Sell to rubes.
Nobody here really should have a problem with that. It is not being sold to you, because you know better and have other options. You really should be advocating for it really. keeps those Ebay prices for earthbound down. More people who are in the know, the more prices go up.

PI2 isn't fast enough for good emulation. The 3 B+ is significantly faster than the 2, and even that's just barely fast enough for good SNES/MD emulation, and decent (fullspeed on everything, but not particularly accurate) PS1 emulation. The 4 is actually fast enough for all of the above with settings that'll give you good input lag.

You probably aren't going to find a laptop for $100 that is faster than a 4 that has native 240p support and composite out or RGB/component support with a hat, and that's the real benefit of using an RPI, not that it's small.

This same person connects it to a laggy TV and plays games in 16:9 stretch mode. If you bring up the concept of lag to them they will say there is zero lag. If you try to play and find there is in fact a massive amount of lag going on they will say they never noticed it and it doesn't bother them.

input lag. Get a MiSTer.

Where are the MiSTer input lag tests with brunnis' methodology?

>> No.5761968

>>5761950
Don't know who this brunnis faggot is but I'm some people have done tests.. You don't need a test to know when something feels accurate. rPi/emulation does not feel right. FPGA generally does.

can the mister do runahead?

>> No.5761981

>>5761971
There is no need for it, so no, however some mister cores can be overclocked.

MiSTer isn't software emulation, It's hardware recreation on a special FPGA chip. It perfectly recreates the original system (assuming the FPGA programmers did their job well, and for most MiSTer cores the experience is very much like running on original hardware.
