Are Famiclone cartridges worth collecting? Do they have a much higher price tag due to them being so uncommon?

>> No.5724465

How did they get a clean rip of that SMB art without the Super Mario acetate sprite?

Only 3rd worlders and degenerates like them. Going by your picture that hold true.

They redrew it, Mario was removed from earlier Famiclone releases of his titles. Most likely due to the fact Nintendo sued NTDEC back in the early 90s and pirates feared they’d be next.

>>5724468
You can a ton of official Famicom games for about $30. Meanwhile Famiclone cartridges cost even higher.

>being so uncommon
Lel what are you smoking. They were made by the millions (as long as the game sold) and released for decades all over the world unlike NoA's grey carts which only got limited numbers printed based on market research and distributed in select regions. Which is why we now have carts with retarded prices like Little Samson, but at the same time you can go on ali and buy a 999 in 1 that has it and other classics for a few dollars.
Here, educate yourself

Aliexpress pirate cartridges are more like homebrews if anything. They weren't made under the restrictions of the Taiwanese/Chinese economy during the early nineties.

To be fair, in the kinaman vid I posted he explains how people in those countries have the same collector mentality but for bootlegs. If the game is good and scarce of course it will fetch a higher price than takeshi's lot of 10 pachinko games and Dragon Quest clones on ebay

Going to Walmart and shitting your pants constantly is the definition of morality. Imagine wasting $100 on something like Bucky 'O' Hare on the NES when you can a pirate cartridge for much cheaper.

It's very little in terms of collecting. Sure you can make the point that that game in particular may be expensive because it may have reached its ceiling price and is in decline. But $85 in general is not much for a first world collector. That's like filling up the gas tank and maybe lunch.

Probably some rich WASP who lives in a gated community. Most middle class americans would dread paying that much for a game. Let alone one that’s going to be stuck on a shelf for years.

>Do they have a much higher price tag due to them being so uncommon?
Rarity isn't the only factor in value, they have to be very desirable to drive up price. Maybe some pirate version of Chip and Dale only shows up for sale on the internet once a year, but if people aren't chomping at the bit to get it, it won't sell for much. An unfinished Rockman X3 prototype sold on ebay last year for in the $600-$700 range, but the much more common Mega Man X3 PAL version complete in box listings regularly sell for over $1,000, simply because more people care about owning that than they do about owning a far rarer prototype of the same game.

Actual early 90s clones and carts have a certain value.
NOACs and modern "repro" carts, not so much.

>> No.5728361

Famiclone carts are usually cheaper, but many of them are copies of early, simple titles.

Unique Famiclone games, like Kart Fighter or stuff like the Grand Dad Mario hack, go for more money typically. There's also several unique ports of FDS games available as clone carts.

A lot of clone carts are in rough shape. Modern clone carts, like the Aliexpress stuff, are lower quality overall than the carts from the 80s and 90s.

This, you can notice the plastic is cheaper.
Modern stickers/labels are also a giveaway, the older ones, while often bizarre, are generally modifications of the original famicom labels, like pic related.

NO, you are not supposed to keep imported japanese games, seriously, it was Us trying to satisfy our need to have physical carts that ruined their system with americans buying and reslling dictating the new prices and corrupting by co-opting.

Just buy a flashcart or modern multicarts!
