Imagine thinking line smoothing improves the graphics

Criminally underrated.

If you set youtube quality at 144p it reverts back to the original graphics.

These actually worked well on old crt monitors.

huh... I wonder if it's exactly the same old graphics or if it just seems like that because of the lower resolution

>> No.5710857

Pixel smoothing is more true to the original intent than raw upscaling. Both are inferior to native res on a real CRT however.

Everything looks bad if you zoom in and make it huge. Back up to a proper distance, and things get more reasonable. Pump it out to an actual CRT TV and it would probably be nice.

If only there were some way to simulate the look of a CRT on a high definition panel...
Why, something like that would be GENIUS, I tell ya!

>> No.5715737

>>5715716
Yeah CRT-Royale is pretty good at 4K
It will be insane at 8K, we'll finally be able to perfectly replicate the CRT look by emulating every phosphor.

Can't wait for 8K Micro LED
>Zero black level
>Absurdly high brightness so we can use it for strobing to eliminate motion blur and combat the drop in brightness caused by Shaders
>Combine that with variable refresh rate
It will be amazing. You could also make it work with original hardware via a Framemeister/OSSC-like device which would interface with your console in real time...the consoles themselves would probably have to be modified to output a pure digital 240p signal via HDMI for best results though.

>simulate the look of a CRT

It could be the best filter ever, and it would still be a step down from a CRT.

Yeah, no it wouldn’t.
Nice Reddit spacing btw.

>> No.5715750

Your whole post is nothing but "No you" followed by a personal attack. My CRTs all have "perfect" geometry, so an LCD is a huge step down in terms of quality.

I doubt you can even imagine thinking

>> No.5715782

>>5715750
>good enough != perfect
It isn’t anything close to being just “no you”. I listed a reason why it wouldn’t be a step down, and instead of addressing that claim you cried fallacy while using one yourself. Instead of strawmanning, you could actually argue why perfect geometry is less important than any of the other benefits a CRT provides.

It was implied:

>It could be the best filter ever, and it would still be a step down from a CRT.
Re-read this and you will understand. The Best LCD is only marginally better than the worst CRT, and pales in comparison to any quality CRT for EVERY reason.
