I would like to say something in defense of Bahamut Lagoon. On /vr/ people often shit on it because of the alleged "NTR," but it's that same "NTR" which I think makes Bahamut Lagoon so unique among JRPGs. Palpaleos s the only other Cross Knight in the game, so as Byuu you HAVE to put him in the same party as your self-insert if you want to make your MC useful, even though Palpaleos is the one who stole "your girl." I think it's really fucking neato that Square forced you, the player, to swallow your pride in order to maximize your party's potential. You can bench Palpaleos, of course, but you'd only be screwing over yourself by doing that. Not only do you have to use him, you have to put him in your MC's party! I don't think any game dev has ever done anything like this.

It's the easiest game ever and I don't even remember what cross knights do. The only class that matters is the one that adds mobility because you just walk around trouncing anything in your path. Thus the game is very boring. So no you don't need whats-his-face.

What is notable about bahamut lagoon is the dragon training, since you have a couple options there (though it's also terribly unbalanced which ruins that part) and the spells affecting terrain. I like how you can cast ice and freed a lake so you can walk over, for example. More srpgs should do that.

agree on both. I really tried to like part of the crew but they were shit or too one-dimensional, like the girl who's a bitch to get then she's always sleeping. there's still a nice bunch of fun characters though

other things that helped terrain were using fire to set grass and trees on fire (to move faster, damage enemies) and using bolt to break buildings. fires could also be calmed down with freeze

I gotta say, if you rebuff Yoyo's advances and attempts to make Byuu fall in love with her, it is the most hilarious shit, and she will literally have sex with every other unit in your army out of frustration. There's no sting at all if you just ignore the cliche and don't get trapped by making all these assumptions about who the characters are.

And it's implied that Byuu just ends up with one of the qt fencer girls who has a crush on him instead, and that Matelite's entire opera scene is a result of Yoyo finally touching his dick, and he's the last fucking one too.

Whole game has this weird empty feeling. The war is mainly useless, some places even like their ruler and bitch at you for offering them 'peace', and we feel as much for the 'big bad' and Palpaleos and see through cutscenes they have their reasons too. And of course the doomed romance. Byuu is dragonsexual anyway.
