A 3DS indie game.

It's okay. Fun, cheap (I got it for like half a dollar I think) and it does feel a bit like Mega Man. But it's also a lot easier than any Mega Man game and you could honestly just be playing Mega Man instead.

If you've already played 1-6 then you've already played the best of the core series, which are 2 and 3 at least in my opinion. It's worth trying 7 if you want to see their transition to SNES, but you mentioned you've already played X which means you've already experienced that jump. I think 7 was also the first in the core series to let you buy upgrades, aside from that it's just a very average game.

It's worth playing 8 if you want to see Mega Man in 32-bit. There's some really well animated cutscenes too, but unfortunately they suffer from Capcom's absolutely ATROCIOUS voice acting at the time. The colorful visuals and cool boss designs really help 8 along, but the soccer ball gimmick weighs it down which balances it out to just slightly above average.

I can't really remember much about 9 other than it being generic feeling but maybe somebody else can weigh in.

I liked Shockman a lot growing up, probably because it's the only Mega-Man-like game I had. Couple hundred games when I sold my NES as a dumb kid and not a single Mega Man among them.

It's Legends by a lot. They're totally different games there no reason for fans if traditional megaman to like legends and vice versa. Not that they can't like each other but they have nothing in common except a blue suit. I don't love or hate traditional megaman but I love legends.

Legends is an unprecedented achievement in creating a sense of place that changes and grows along with you. The gameplay isn't as bad as people say but it definitely pales in comparison to peak Mega Man.

X has always felt overrated to me. I prefer the GBA Zero games.
