I believe I'm one of only three people to have played this

One of those early "look it's multimedia guise!" games huh?

Basically you go around to different planets building a trading empire. Pay careful attention to the prices of commodities and you also have to pay to fuel your spaceship, taxes, and your employees.

I almost forgot that lava lamps were a status symbol back in the early 90's.

At that time all the "real" games were still DOS while Windows had these simplistic multimedia demo things.

So Escape Velocity without the space combat, optional storylines, and exploration?

I'll pass.

There's no combat, no. Just economics shit.

I think your confusing "status symbol" with "fad"

I recall playing Gazillionaire Deluxe. Loved it.

That was the joke. The cover art implies that the important businessman has a lava lamp, so you know he's rich. But that's silly.

Britfag here, and I played this game too. Picked it up in a bargain bin in some EB in Miami when on holiday. Game was good funwith other real people, against cpu it was dull as a bag of foxes. Never EVER saw it on sale in my country though.

I think I went to the EB once and got this and Laura Bow 2: The Dagger of Amon Ra.

The second one got more playtime.
