Thinking of getting a Gameboy Player for the Gamecube. Since I don't own any consoles older than the PS1, what are some NES, SNES, Genesis, etc games that have been ported to the GB and GBA?

All 3 Donkey Kong Countries
Zero Mission has the original Metroid included
Super Mario Bros
Super Mario World
A Link to the Past
Yoshi's Island

That's all I can think of off the top of my head

are they bad ports?

>> No.5693037

Sorry to be like this, but get a wii instead, so you can play the original version of all those games. No need for expensive gb player disc.

The gb player sucks anyway without custom firmware. Shitty border, forced filtering making everything look blurry, and added input lag.

>> No.5693054

go to the store and buy a wii.

>> No.5693071

>>5693037
I was gonna buy an action replay instead of the gb player disc. It's a lot cheaper and I can put the custom firmware on it.

>>5693054
I have a wii. I just wanted a way to play GBA games on TV and figured I'd add some SNES games to my collection

>> No.5693089

It should be noted that some games like mario world advance and donkey kong country have rom hacks to make the colors look the same as the originals. The classic nes games play alright, but look kinda stretched and feel a bit off. Don't know about genesis but the sonic games on the advance are not great ports either.

Anyway if you get the action replay can't you download emulators on that too? The gamecube is almost identical to the wii spec wise

>> No.5693097

>>5693071
The Wii can emulate SNES,Genesis and GBA. If you have a model that plays GC games then you can use Nintendon't to launch ISOs. There's no need to spend money on a GBA player.

>> No.5693108

For me, its gotta be wario land 4, the best gba game.

that is a good point. not sure why i didn't think of that

>> No.5693419

>>5693097
Not to mention the Wii has easy access to component output unlike the gamecube.

>> No.5693434

Why not get the mini NES or SNES that GameStop sells? I got them both and modded them and got (500+) free games. I probably gained money just off the amount of games I got, some of which were rare games worth thousands(Little Samson, Cheetahmen 2, etc.). I suggest doing that.

You're going to blow all that money to pay for ports that were designed to be played on a non-backlit screen instead of just playing the original versions?

Do you own an action replay sd anon?
Cause if you care about good resolution get gameboy interface.

Contra has the overhead stages replaced, kinda cool
MM&Bass is the only NA release, it;s mostly the same except lesser resolution which I personally can't recommend
FF 1-6 (sans 3) have different music etc per title. I've heard that FF6 is superior in that regard. Again, the resolution is kinda a cripple though so it's up to you

>> No.5695082

First 6 final fantasy games, Mario 1, 2, 3, and world. Yoshi's island, breath of fire 1, and 2, dragon quest 1, 2, and 3, ice climbers, kid Icarus, link to the past, and many many more. The GBA is debatably the best handheld of all time with it's original games and ports, so it's a good choice to get something that can play GBA and GB games.

>> No.5695092

>>5692876
It's obvious they were ports attempting to relight fires, and while it's not all bad, the original versions are going to be superior in just about any and every way.

>> No.5695114

Stay the fuck away from Sonic 1 on the GBA, theres a genesis collection for the GC

>> No.5698045

the disc is super overpriced. An action replay with Gameboy interface is better and cheaper
