I'll certainly buy some newer games on sale, but there's little reason to buy retro games on steam - most of them are quite poorly ported and you're better off emulating them for better performance which is free anyway

>> No.5690087

probably Z.A.R. since it is 75% off

>> No.5690134 [DELETED]

Going to pick up Cuphead, Odallus and Hollow Knight. I've heard they're quality retro games. :)

It's actually a really shitty native port
Well it used to be really shitty. I think they might have fixed it.
DS version is still probably better.

It's a native port that plays fine but has a horrible vaseline filter and some bad tiling.

Honestly, I don't really buy retro games if they're digital. Remasters of retro games, sure, but if it's a game that was released 20-30 years ago, the people who made it probably aren't going to get anything if I buy it now. I'm almost certainly going to get RoSaGa 3 when it's released, but that's both a new localization of the old game and a series where its director is still heavily involved.

Thinking about those Turok games nightdive re-released. How do they rank among other 90s shooters?

>> No.5691495

I dont know, Steam Summer Sale used to grab my attention like crazy, say, years ago, but now I'm mostly just curious but not really intending on buying anything. It's just a feeling of been there done that that permeates my experience.

They're still making new content for it. And i love it. Whenever i list my top five favorite games ever i always have to cheat and put a 6th because i refuse to leave that gem off of it despite just barely missing the list.

Oh so I will still find people, neat! Do you know if there is a community here on 4chan?

>> No.5692715

>>5692701
I dunno if there's one here on 4chan, but I wouldn't be surprised if you took a look around elsewhere and found one. If nothing else you'll find opponents online for sure, i've never had trouble with that. The game is still popular enough and the HD remaster brought in tons of RTS players who missed out on it. I don't even like the RTS genre and i love AOE2, c'mon it has to be doing something right.

Steam sales haven't been good in years. Since I already have way too many games I'm probably gonna keep buying games to a minimum. Now they're making it so you can get a free wishlist game so everyone's removing cheaper games from their wishlist and indie devs are losing their minds over it.

I haven't seen anything interesting. I picked up pretty much everything I might care about years ago at 5% or less. I'm sure that triggers many poorfags.

Thingking of getting Guilty Gear XXAC, how's the online multiplayer?

>> No.5697486

For retro or retrolike games I got Thimbleweed Park, Bad Mojo and S&M Hit The Road. Played a chunk of Bad Mojo and it's super interesting, halfway or so through Thimbleweed and I'm loving it.

Seeds of Evil is a standout of the 90s shooters, especially coming from the N64. I picked it up again myself, Frag Tag is just as fun now as it was back then, great game mode that should have continued on in some way

Completely forgot Jet Set Radio was on steam until I saw this thread so I got it
A shame Future isn't available too
